I had 24 hours notice!

I can't really blame my family though, as I am sure they were only told a few hours prior to me finding out. Yesterday, at around 1 pm, I was told that we would have some extended family coming down to visit us. I had a few things to do before I could start cleaning, but as soon as I was able I went to task! Floors were vacuumed, bathrooms were scrubbed, laundry was put away (it had been hanging up ready to be put away) and now all there is left to do is make tea. Oh and wait. These are family members I have not seen in many years. Some 2nd cousins that I am sure I have met but it has been many many years. Don't you hate when you get very little notice on something?

Yes I hate when I get short notice on things also as I like to be better prepared. I hope you enjoy the time with the family though.

I said my hellos and goodbyes but otherwise wasn't very socialable. I had intended to be but then there wasn't much for me to say (or get in edgewise) so I just went ahead and excused myself.

@Blondie2222 True enough. Though it was a bit of an awkward one at that.

I am not a person who likes surprises like this. I like to know ahead of time so I can plan.

I ended up vacuuming the main places they would see twice over. My aunt (my mom's sister) came over as well and she said that everything looked good, but I still hated that I didn't get to do as much as I would have liked.

Oh, little warning before guests come is pretty bad! At least to me.

Yes, to me as well. I wish there was more I could have done to clean.

I need notice too specially if they have plans to stay. Our guest room is attended to only when we expect guests.

Luckily ours never intend to stay. We don't have a guest bed anymore, so it would be quite a rush to find something suitable.

They spent about two hours here yesterday. They live about two and a half hours away and were down for a basketball game at our local coliseum.

Oh that is stressful! I managed to get things to my standards but I still would have preferred to have a little more done!
