Nobody Likes Me, Everybody Hates Me

I was having one of those self pity parties yesterday. Four, count em, four sales since I published Grue Tales. I was feeling really "woe is me! Nobody wants to read my book" I have a friend who is having serious health issues and she's also an author. She was telling me about the problems she's been having and how she's nervous about an upcoming surgery. The surgery is intensive and is to repair damage done to her body from another surgery. She said she can't wait to be back on her feet and continue writing her books. Without the surgery her life expectancy is greatly jeopardized. So here I am, fairly healthy and I'm feeling sorry for myself! Maybe my books will never sell or sell very little, but I'm still able to get around, work and enjoy life. So hang the bad attitude and I'll keep on writing.

We all have days like that. And it's TOUGH to sell books. No doubt about it. You just keep at it, and keep looking for new and interesting ways to self promote. It's still tough, but you can do it. And yes, at least you have your health. Have sales of the book fared any better since writing this?

Not really. I've come to the conclusion that talent doesn't necessarily mean success or people want everything for free. LOL

@irishidid Hang in there and keep at it. Although, that being said, there were some great writers in our field like H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Alan Poe who did not reach their potential until they were in the grave. Ugh. It's HARD to get the word out. I am rooting for you.

I am sorry to hear about your friend Four sounds like a good amount so far I think. People read ebooks so much more now then paperbacks.

I guess it is better than zero. Hopefully things will pick up once I'm able to get a new cover and have some money for promotions.

See if your library would put some out for sale for you. I know our library does that to introduce local authors.

Oh that is horrible for her! I am not sure that I would trust a doctor, or rather surgeon, after what she went through! Yes, we often forget to look beyond our own circumstances and count ourselves lucky!

I won't go into details on what happened but the original surgery was necessary and she was supposed to have another surgery to fix some issues. When she went back to the first doctor he refused to do it because he said the insurance wasn't going to pay him enough. She said she's planning on suing him and I hope she does!

I admire anyone who writes and publishes a book.

That is why I have not pushed myself to get a couple books published. The market is flooded with wonderful author and no one seems to be reading anymore. I often do the same, feel sorry for myself till I remember children are suffering with cancer.

I still plan on continuing to write and publish. It's what I'm good at. I just need more people to see that.

Sometimes our dreams are never realized but I always try to believe it is for a reason and am also grateful that I am not dependent on anyone in life

My dreams of being a published writer have been realized. The money just hasn't followed.
