I live my life. I don't care.

Lately I have heard a lot of people say this. They don't care a about hunger or abuse elsewhere. They are not interested in news unless they have gory details. Sometimes I think people care more about animals than about their own species. Have you noticed this? What do you think about it?

In the US, it is trending that people care more about dogs than fellow humans.

It is a pity. And a shame if you don't mind my saying so.

I don't know if this statement is really true. However, during the big financial crisis ten years ago I recall a cat charity saying they had 11 million in an offshore bank account which had been lost. I couldn't quite believe it or understand why they had so much and what they were using it for.

With the advances in broadcasting news around the world people are becoming desensitized to the plight of others. Especially their own species. I'm experiencing this first hand where I live. I have seen your posts to my blogs about my home being burned down and everything I own destroyed in the fire. A few of my neighbors have pitched in with financial help and clothing and a couple of sewing machines. But the big item, cleaning the charred remains, it's my problem. Either I clear the mess or lose my investment. I don't have the money to clear the mess so when my lawsuit is settled I don't have a lot to rebuild on. It amounts to:all I care about is me, you can go to hel....... In the pioneer days people would pitch in and have a house raising or a barn raising. People helped people. But we are teaching otherwise. We need to teach that we help ALL living creatures, human and animal. I do and its a great feeling. Even though I am dependent on someone else for the roof over my head, I still can find five bucks in my pocket for a homeless man and his wife to get a meal. And it taught the person I'm living with to give a few dollars too. I was in the library when the homeless couple were leaving. The husband summoned up all his courage and asked for a few dollars. He was so surprised and thrilled when he got five dollars. We met up with the man at Subway where they could get a huge sandwich for five bucks. So, not all people refuse to help other people and we sure don't want the gory details. I guess that's because we have enough gory details in our lives!

I think that people should care about both other people and animals.

The question is which is more important if you had to chose

@marguicha both are important but I guess animals need more protection because unlike people they cannot speak for themselves.

Sometimes I think there are those who care more about animals and trees than other human beings.

I have the same feeling and I am shocked. Plants and animals should be cared for but people come first.

I think what you say is very true. Of course, some animals have better conduct than some humans but it's a shame that people ignore the welfare of others less fortunate.

I do care about people and about animals. I feel special concern for the safety of my friends. The world is no longer a safe place.

Well, there are alot of terrible people out there that make me like animals more than humans. But I'm still caring and help the humans who aren't terrible.

I care more about animals than human beings and I don't think there is anything wrong with this. I see many flaws in the human race. We are not a kind species. Every other species on the planet is driven by natural instinct but I think we have lost that and as a result we act crazy. We hurt other people in our own species. We hurt for fun. We are arrogant enough to believe that we can destroy the natural world and other species without consequence. There is enough money and food in the world to be able to cure world hunger but the wealth is hoarded by a small majority. Why? For power. I don't think people who love animals more than humans will ever outnumber humans who think that animals don't matter one bit. Human egos are strong. However as the world population grows I think people are being desensitized to human suffering. This can already be seen in over populated countries.

I believe in humble not only to humans but also to animals. They also have feelings right. So as the humans should be treated well.
