Just a little issue with my Instant Pot pressure cooker

Before Christmas, I read on myLot how several myLotters liked their Instant Pot so I got one for Christmas.
I cooked black eyed peas that were the best I've ever cooked. My husband agreed.
Next I cooked a beef roast with potatoes and carrots, again it was suburb.
Recently I cooked a bear roast with the same veggies. It was delicious, but you know the silicone ring in the lid? I can't get the smell of the meat out of it.
I tried all the suggestions from Instant Pot.com like baking soda, coffee, vinegar, dishwasher, not much helped. It's almost gone now, but I hesitate to cook something like that again.
Have any of you had that problem? It must not be unusual because it's addressed in the help section of the web site. I sure don't want to buy a new seal every time I use it, but sure do like it otherwise.

Is bear meat gamier than beef?

It can be, but my husband cleans it really well and it really didn't taste like wild game at all. It might be the reason though, for the strong smell.

I haven't had an issue with my silicone ring but I haven't cooked any game in my Instant Pot. Glad to hear that you are enjoying yours! It would probably be a good idea to get a backup sealing ring. I just found a 4 pack on Amazon for $12.99

I got one from walmart on line on Black Friday. I'm sure there will be more on sale at some point. I really like mine. Going to cook a pot of dry lima beans for lunch today.

That's what I've decided to do. I've ordered two more seals and I'll save the original one for when I cook meat.

I also heard that soaking with vinegar helps

I tried that along with ground coffee and several washes in the dishwasher. It's okay now, but I still might buy a new one and save that one for meat dishes.

@1creekgirl Yes good idea to have a spare anyway. I have not had to buy a new ring yet

I've ordered two more rings so I can use different ones for different dishes.

I was using the pressure cooker feature, haven't tried it as a slow cooker yet.

That's good to know. But the smell really bugs me.
