Happiest Monday ever. As many know Super bowl 52 was hosted in the wintery tundra of downtown Minneapolis this year, a few short blocks from my place of employment. For the last 10 days SB52 has had a plethora of both free and paid events across the city and into some suburbs. Our convention center hosted the SB Experience, a paid family expo of "fun" activities indoor. Our outdoor picturesque Nicollet Mall street downtown hosted SB Live, with outdoor activities and local bands playing in a public safety saturated 6 block stretch of street. Yes, people are insane. An outdoor event in Minnesota February. It was 0 degrees and -19 windchill for the game yesterday. They did have a couple of snowmobile flips and stunts which would have been cool to see. For locals and myself in particular - SB52 has been cool but mainly a headache. You have added traffic, mostly full parking ramps downtown. National guard, FBI, law enforcement from 60 cities across the metro concentrated in the downtown area. For the past 10 days bars have been open until 0400am instead of the usual 0200am. Also has been weird to see and hear so many helicopters and jets above your head all throughout the day. My job had also mandated 12 hour shifts during this period which has been draining. And with only one day off between stretches. Yuck. Its all over!!! Hurray. The game itself i watched in entirety. It was close! How was your SB52 experience?

There was a football game? I haven't watched football in years. Plus, I don't have cable, so it's amazing how little you hear about it.... I watched the 2017 opening day game of the World Champion Houston Astros on MLB yesterday. Only nine days until pitchers and catchers report.

@maezee -- It was on "free" TV, but I don't have my TV hooked up to an antenna. Even if I did, I wouldn't have watched it.

The good part is I don't have to hear about football for two seconds but draft day is coming.

My SB52 experience was mainly limited to watching it online. I can understand how such a big sporting event can be both a blessing and a curse for its host city.

I'm happy for your sake it's over. Sounds like a headache to deal with. I didn't watch the game.

Thankfully the game was indoors. So the people didn't freeze. Though they still froze while outside waiting I suppose, and during the other events outside.

Exactly. We would be crazy to have an outdoor stadium here.

I was not much of a foot ball fan either, maybe it helped with the tourism in your place?

Oh cool! You're from Minnesota too! I'm from about an hour West of the twin cities. Actually went past the US Bank Stadium yesterday as I was with my parents for a Doctor visit. Anyway, not a big football fan, but kind of cool that it was here. I'm sure it would get old if I lived right there though

That must have been a very exciting time for people in your area - but like you, I am sure they are happy that it is over , and incident free.

I supposed this amount of commotion was expected. People living in the area ow working in the area will always be affected the most.Happy you'll get some rest now.

Haha. Nice. And yes. I could do with fewer of those shifts. Very tiring.
