The best song of 1949 was sung by the great country legend Hank Williams “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”. When Hank Williams first wrote this song he meant for the words to be spoken. He had been inspired to write the song because of troubles he was having with his wife. The song has been covered by many different artists including Elvis during his TV special Aloha from Hawaii.

He recorded that in Cincinnati, at Herzog Studios. There's a marker outside where Herzog Studios used to be, commemorating the fact that Hank recorded in Cincinnati. Sadly, it's the only building still standing where Hank recorded. All of the other studios he used in Nashville have been razed.
