Somehow I gotta love my nervous system...now I know how dogs feel with fleas!

I've been spending the past four months itching off and on. I figured it was allergies, but I've never had them last like this. Plus they don't itch in the odd spots that I've been itching in. The area up my nose was so far up my nose I swore I was soon going to be scratching my brain!!!. The misery from the itching got so bad that I finally gave in and went into the walk in clinic. The doctor decided it was allergies and prescribed allergy medication. It sort of worked but not totally. The itching eases off for a couple days and then it comes back again. It will come back so fiercely that I can understand what animals go through with fleas. Fortunately we don't have any in the house. I did some research today and discovered that my horrible itching is stress related. Apparently when I look at the remains of my burned down home I subconsciously begin to stress about the cleanup and paying for it. I also worry about Bill and if I have a stress seizure and end up in the hospital. If the itching doesn't settle down in the next few days I may go to see my primary care physician for something to help me out. A LOT of the itching is on the area of my back where I can't quite reach it with just my arm, and my back scratcher burned with the house. Anyway, I feel for the critters that suffer with fleas!!! I hope there is a way to settle down my itching and my stress!

I feel terrible for animals with fleas! All they have is their mouths to bite at the itch with. Imagine how awful it would feel to have them crawling all over and biting. It makes me so sad for them. That is awful that you are itching so terribly. I would have assumed allergies as well so I am surprised to hear it is stress. Makes sense though. You might need an anxiety pill.

Sounds like your skin is dry. I use Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. It helps. You could put some vaseline up your noise.

Skin problems are most of the time stress related. The dermatologist prescribed a cream to my husband that helps a lot with the hitching.

I didn't know itching could be a cause from stress. I might as well search for that. Anyway, I hope you feel better now.
