Lately I have been looking forward to getting into bed at night - not because I am a sleepyhead - but because of my night time companion - YouTube movies. At first I was interested in YouTube mainly for the music - now that I have discovered the movies - they are a perfect relaxation aid after a busy day. I can choose whatever genre I like - whether comedy, suspense, action or religious - its all there at my fingertips. Every night I select one movie to watch before falling asleep - and so far I have watched four movies based on novels by Catherine Cookson. I simply love novels and movies about life in the 18th and 19th centuries. How do you relax at the end of a busy day? Any YouTube movies fans out there?

Oh wow, I didn't know YouTube had full length movies to watch. I'll have to check that out. I watch shows on streaming TV sites like Netflix which helps me get to sleep.

I wasn't aware until my sister mentioned it - now I just type in what I want and there it is. Then there would be a list of additional movies of the same genre to the one chosen , for you to select to watch whenever you are ready..

@rebelann I have already watched Catherine Cookson's "The Dwelling Place", "The Glass Virgin", and "The Secret". Tonight I plan to watch another one based on her novels titled - "The Black Velvet Gown". Picture is from "The Glass Virgin"

@Plethos Do you own one of the white noise generators? I've got a clock that has different sounds recorded on it that you can play in loops from 5 minutes to 1 hour. 'White noise' is one of the recorded sounds... Other sounds on the clock are 'Ocean waves', 'Summer rain', 'Tropical forest' and 'Whale songs'.

Youtube puts me to sleep but I don't watch the movies there. I watch makeup tutorial videos and reviews. Somehow that lulls me to sleep. If I watch a movie that won't put me to sleep at all.

Oh, wow! I thought I was going to have to warn you that this is a PG-13 site, Kandase! Yeah, sometimes I watch YouTube movies but most of the time I finish off whatever novel I started the previous morning... I like watching the scientific movies mostly, although I do like the children's cartoons on YouTube.

@Kandae11 after all that has happened to me and winding up completely alone nothing scares me. If I feel like it I even watch horror movies at night.

it is so convenient to take my laptop in bed with me and choose a movie. However, the novelty will soon wear off.

I read quite a few Catherine Cookson books for a while but found they were a bit too sad in places. I'd probably be okay with them now.

@Kandae11 The books end nicely too and the drama is fine really. I guess sometimes I'm a bit too sensitive. I think too she writes so well you get too involved with the characters and forget that it is all 'just a story'.

I have never read one of her books. I know of her only through the movies based on her books on Youtube. The movies I saw all ended nicely despite the drama along the way - perhaps the stories are changed a bit in the movies.

Well not movies, but videos that's my relaxation, I just watch any videos of any topic in YouTube that I find interesting. I seldom watch movies in YouTube. But lately I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's I missed Audrey Hepburn when I saw her resurrected in a recent chocolate commercial in YouTube, so I ended up re-watching her movie
