Averted a mishap

The other day I was driving my car and was returning to my home after attending a function at my relative's place. I came out of the place, after 500 meters, there was a blind left turn on the road. I turned my car on the left side and its speed was moderate. There was negligible traffic on the road, at that point of time. What I saw after that was horrifying. Two young girls were riding on a scooter (without wearing helmets) and were driving in the wrong lane, from where I was coming from opposite direction. At the first instance, I thought that on seeing a moving car from the opposite direction, they will immediately change their lane and will give me away to move. But to my horror the scooter driver was looking somewhere else and not at the car. They car had come very close to the Scooter. I had no option, but had to apply emergency breaks to avert the head on collision with the Scooter riders. I could stop the car in time but they somehow could not control themselves and rammed their scooter in my car, as the car was stationary, not much damage was done to them. I had to shout at them for their grave foolishness but instead of realizing their mistake they said that I should have driven more carefully. I was aghast to hear their unwanted comments. I was wondering that I saved their life and likely injuries and instead of thanking me, they were putting blame on me. Has this ever happened with you?

On road none will take responsibility of mistakes even though they are aware about the same. It is very common and people like to blame others because it is very easy. I have faced this kind of situations in different way many times, I mean not on road but with other type of incidents.

It is really sorry state of affairs that there are few people on the road, who admit their mistake. Otherwise, they immediately start blaming the other one, to defend themselves, which is disgusting. People drive rashly causing danger to their life and others and do not even follow the traffic rules/norms. Which other situations did you face, when you were blamed without any fault of yours?

@Sreekala It is disheartening to know that even if you are doing social service, some people find faults with your work/conduct. It is wiser on your part that you ignore those, who just look at the negative side. If one is appreciated, s/he would definitely come out with his/her best.

@dpk262006 I am associating with an organization and holding some high positions. We do it as a service and doing much hard work, getting back blames at times. Some people are there to digging out the negative out of positives just for creating an issue. Anyway now I learned to handle those situations. I also learned to value the appreciations alone.

Wow I would have been absolutely furious at their attitude blaming you for their mistake. I am glad they weren't killed they should be much more careful. I had a dream last night that I was riding with someone who went down the highway going through wrong direction and there was snow and fog everywhere so it was hard for the oncoming cars to see us. Scary dream.

Yes, I was furious and I shouted on them after stopping my car but it was sad that they did not realize that their life was saved and it was their fault to drive in the wrong lane. Your dream and scenario in my discussion appears similar. Did you see the scary dream after reading my discussion?

Did they scratch up you're vehicle when they ran into it? Nope I saw the dream many hours before seeing your post.

They were just being defensive. Perhaps they thought you would take them to task and get them to pay for damages.

I don't mind if they were defensive but they should have realized that had I not stopped the car, they would have been in deep trouble.

Clearly they don't know anything about traffic rules. I wonder if they even have a license to drive.

Yes, you are right that they did not know anything about traffic rules and were apparently novice. I doubt if the girl driving the scooter had a driving licence or requisite experience/skills in driving.

@toniganzon No one is allowed to drive without a license but if anyone is not checked and caught by a Traffic Policeman for his/her license, s/he will go scot free.

Oh my, they have the nerve to tell you that, when they were after all in the wrong lane. If I were you, I would surely get their plate number and have them reported.

Yes, they were apparently shameless girls, instead of realizing or accepting their mistake they were blaming me. I would have reported the incident but I did not want to create a scene over there. The problem is - if any such mishap takes place the driver driving the bigger vehicle is blamed and no one tries to finds out whose fault it was.

That is same logic here also. If a big vehicle and small vehicle collided. All blame of big vehicle without seeing the justice.

Yes, it has. I went into a store. Had parked in the lot with no one in front of me. I come out and there is a car in front of me now and people walking around the car. They say I have hit their car. I say I don't think so since I was in the store. In a few minutes they realized they were not getting one over on me and left.

It is really disgusting that you were not there around your car, when others were pointing fingers towards you, which was their own fault. Thank God that they realized their mistake sooner than later.

These people should not be on the road in the first place, wonder how they got their driver's licence. In the Philippines, helmets are mandatory.

That's so mean of them. So harsh isn't it? When I'm driving I just think this - "I use my bike to commute and not to enjoy" .. I rather drive like a tortoise.. When it comes to road driving, I prefer safety first than any other things..

Sadly, they did not seem grateful that they were saved in time, rather they did not accept their blunder. No, the car was not damaged badly, as I had complete stop the car, only some minor damage was there.
