I might not be a sports fan, but I love the Olympics, and tonight they are starting with figure skating. @DianneN, you might be interested in that. It starts in just a few minutes. Is anyone else here an Olympics fan? The opening ceremony is tomorrow night, but they've already had some events from what I heard on the radio today. Okay, my notifications are done for today. Time for some relaxation with the tele. I will be back tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

I've been waiting since the last Winter Olympics for the 2018 to begin. The reason I haven't written sooner is because I have been watching the figure skating and the rest with hubs. Some big Oops tonight!

@just4him Most had poor skates, but they'll get another chance. We were out to dinner, but my husband recorded the opening ceremonies. We watched it when we got home, and shut it off after the US walked in. lol

@DianneN You turned it off too soon. It was a great ceremony. I took pics off the TV.

Yes, unfortunately. Our young man did great in the practice warm-ups and then fell during his program, but he wasn't the only one. I hit record after the men's figure skating and went to bed. I couldn't stay awake any longer. I'll be watching it yet today along with the opening ceremony.

I'll watch the Olympics except for the actual opening ceremony. I hate that the winter Olympics don't get as good ratings as the summer Olympics. I really enjoy watching the figure skating, luge, skiing, and bobsled. The skeleton scares me because they once showed a live practice where an athlete ended up dying. And I will never forget when his eyes went from alert to blank.

@just4him I think it was the last one. Are you one who wants the Olympics back in the USA? While I know it is good for the economy it seems to attract terrorists just because it's America. I think I'd prefer we not get them. And if we did, I'd prefer it not be LA or Chicago. I don't want the crime problems highlighted.

@just4him I remember being at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. It was the last Olympics before 9/11. After that the security got insanely tight. That's true about learning about other countries. But I think they should go to responsible cities and countries. I don't think Sochi, Russia has any business hosting the last winter Olympics. Rio did so many terrible things to their people to get the summer Olympics, and now every structure has been left in ruins. Do you think any North Korean athletes will try to defect?

@AmbiePam I really don't care where they are. I love learning about the countries where they are. Rio was certainly fascinating. All the information they showed about the country was awesome. I just love all that. I already know a lot about our own country. I certainly wouldn't want to attract terrorists, but I think that would be a problem no matter what country it was in. I've heard security is high at all Olympics lately. This one is already on high alert with North Korea competing.

I must check the few channels we can get and see if they are broadcasting it here. I could watch Winter Olympics no worries.

@just4him The winter olympics are fun. I can get to watch them on a satellite dish tv; not the regular tv.

@Plethos Really? I know for me it's 15 hours ahead, but that puts it right into prime time. The events were live last night.
