Yes, I'll admit, I'm slow. Mom and I used to joke how neither of us were "with it." That's right, neither of us had a cell phone. Mom used to have one when she was on my brother's plan, but he had to change plans and drop her. I used to have a "go phone" way back, but I got tired of having to sign up over and over because I kept forgetting to renew my minutes. After Mom passed away, one of her friends turned me on to a bunch of low-income services--one of which was a free cell phone via a company called Assurance Wireless. I received it Wednesday, and got it activated Thursday. Not sure that I'll ever use all of the "bells and whistles" that come with it, but it will be nice to have in case of emergency or something.

I still don't have a cell phone. I am more or less a shut in, and since I have land lines, there's no real need for me to have one. Now, J has one, and loves it.

I'm glad for you. I bet you'll enjoy it more than you think.

Yes, it is comforting to have an extra phone in case the other line breaks down.

with how everything is these days. it is definitely nice and smart for you to have a cell phone. I think assurance is the one that if you have to you can add more minutes to it for cheap.
