Ages ago a young boy loved a girl Okay you might retort so what´s new about that? They loved each other but she was from afar Despite all the love they felt Families from both sides did not feel the same Such was the pressure and despite all their deep deep love He ran off and escaped from it all Most likely never to see her again Years did pass and with a great regret which weighed in his heart He almost gave up living he did with yet another woman part For his true love was there beyond those seas She was also carrying a broken heart He went and found her right across to her land He went on his knees and in front of her and pressed beautiful flowers into her hands "Marry me and forget the rest" long enough have we suffered and have been put to the test" They both agreed to marry and now live together Such a love was meant to be and no one will break them up ever.

@1hopefulman So do I as well. I love some romantic Films but do not like their endings such as the one "Last Of the Mohicans" the one with Cora and Uncas in.

What a lovely poem. Lovers must do what makes them happy, even if it means going against the wishes of their parents. Only time will prove them right.

@DianneN Not sad no they are together and love each other. They have eventually overcome all the problems that they had. The woman said yes the first time to getting married to him and asked him what took him so long? Quite funny but very touching too.

Nice story, sadly it doesn't happen to most people. Others either it's not enough or it's not right. Lucky for them.

Lots of great love stories except that you never get to hear about them very much I would say. Yes and there are love stories of the other kind also you are so right.

To be honest I did not think about that one you know and I was thinking of that man´s love for his first girlfriend and how they were forced to split up. Thank you Fredo and I love St. Valentine´s Day too.

I have a thing about happy endings as well. Although I know there are bad endings I am only staying with the good ending ones.

@JudyEv Another reason why I avoid them all I can and I know that they happen but just don´t want to see it end like that and I know how it ends already.

Yes because it was quite a time after that they did get together. One missed the other so much.

No, its not really but it could sort of tie in with what we went through also. We were never helped by either family either. The point is that the poem is about another couple who fell in love very young with huge opposition from the families.

Sounds like a fairy tale but would be a lovely thing to have someone think about you for so long and find you again.

It really did happen and its true that he got scared the first time and ran off as he was very young and much much later on he plucked up the courage to go and see her and propose to her. A story in a million.
