Favorite "Queen" Songs #5 - "Kings and Queens"

I am doing concurrent music countdowns of my favorite songs with either "king" or "queen" in the title, and I could have used this one either way (I briefly considered being lazy and using it once for both sides!) We are at #5, and this is the "queen" portion: "Kings and Queens" by Aerosmith, making their first appearance in one of my music series'. The second single released from Aerosmith's 1977 album, Draw the Line, "Kings and Queens" is a heavy (I won't say "power," because it definitely ain't a love song) ballad about, according to vocalist Steven Tyler, those that died in Holy Wars because of "their beliefs or non-beliefs." Early on, the song was a concert staple, although the band rarely performs it these days. As a single, "Kings and Queens" was disappointing at best, stalling at #70 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #76 in Canada. So what, I say. It remains my favorite Aerosmith song to this day. (Fun Fact: Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton hails from right here in the Colorado Springs area!) I've linked to a live performance from 2014 in Atlanta. The video was shot by someone in the audience, but the quality is pretty good. Enjoy! (Viking spitting blood upon the land info verified by Wikipedia)

When you think about it, Aerosmith didn't have a bunch of big hits. They were album sellers.

Yeah, they really didn't become a huge singles band until the mid 80's.

It might take me awhile to come up with ten of each. I wonder if I could.

They are. They were great when I saw them, and I was there more for The Cult, who opened.

Classic rock day! Did you have to flip a coin to see if this would be in the “kings” or the “queens” section? (I used “Wild Mountain Honey” and had to flip to see whether it went in the “wild” countdown or the “mountain/hill” countdown.)

I had to move it over from "king" because I was having a harder time coming up with "queen" songs. I was using it either way.
