Just discovered the worst writing group in facebook.

I joined this writing group for the sake of gaining tips and advice. Instead I stumbled upon a collection of people who are so full of themselves. Mostly they are self publishers but they acted in less professional ways. They often post racist and provocative stuffs and the comment section crawls with trolls. They do this to gain notoriety and publicity. Good thing though that the group is improving and I'm seeing less trash being shared (I even witnessed two authors trash talking). Now for the sake of anonymity and to give them the chance to improve, I won't show the link.

Doesn't sound like anything I'd want to be a part of. Have you learned anything useful from it?

Few actually. They do gave tips on how to show and not tell and that's it. And I got it not by asking questions but by digging into the comment section. So far that's the ONLY tip I got and mostly I see authors trolling each other. Do note that you could get better tips researching blogs and legitimate groups. Then once I asked tips on how to build an author's page. Somehow no one answered. Lastly I only stayed in the group to check the comment section and watch them hurl mud at each other. Recently I saw one planning to create an Islamophobic book much to the people's horror.

@BarBaraPrz they are really fun, I enjoy watching their online cage-match though I'm not willing to join them. Anyway time to find another writing group :)
