Didn't know that library cards expire...

I logged into my library account to put a book on hold. I wasn't able to do that and was told to see a librarian. Turns out that my library card was expired as of 2015. I had no idea that library cards have an expiration date. Wonder why they do?
I went to the library yesterday and they renewed my card, though have no idea when it expires, as they didn't tell me. While I was at it, I told them to update my last name on the card as I got married and changed my last name.
I asked if I can still use my old card and they told me I can. It's just weird because my card was already signed and the signature is with my maiden name. But I guess it doesn't really matter. I don't think they pay attention to the signature when they check you out.
With the card taken care of, I went to look for a book to read. The books I wanted to check out were not in the library, so I settled for something else. The book looks promising. It's called Lessons in French by Hilary Reyl. I have three weeks to read it. It's been a while since I borrowed anything from the library or been to one. A few years at least...

Yes, that has happened to me. There is no expiration date. It just suddenly doesn't work and you have to take it to the desk.

Good thing the library is close to my house. I'd hate to have to travel far to a library just to get the card working again.

I hope so. Just have to get myself to sit down and read. Will be hard to do with the winter Olympics on and other things that need to be done.

I didn;t know they did. Maybe that is not the case everywhere.
