Your Desert Island music

The BBC Radio Show Desert Island Discs has been running since 1942. In the show, a guest celebrity is asked for their choice of eight "gramophone records" (I did say it started in 1942!) that they would want to be marooned with. The bulk of the half-hour show consists of excerpts from the pieces of music they have chosen. In other words, this is a way of asking people: "What is your favourite music?" or "Which pieces could you least bear to be without?" For me, it would have to include Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, which is surely the greatest piece of music ever composed by anybody, but I am willing to concede that it might not be everyone's cup of tea! It would also be hard to imagine life without at least something by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, but the choices to be made are not easy. So what do you think would find its way into your suitcase when it is washed ashore along with your good self?

Mine would be Black Veil Bride's album We Stitch These Wounds because it has some of my favorite songs on it and it means so much to me.

But you are only allowed to choose one song at a time! There would be nothing to stop you choosing all eight songs from the same album, but your time on the island might lack variety!

I also love Tchaikovsky, many of his symphonies are among my favorite pieces of music.

Piano Concerto No 1 would be a possibility for me, but I think I would want to spread my choices between different composers.

@indexer There are many and so many great symphonies to listen to. I do not like a lot modern musics, I prefer ancient great composers.

It would all depend upon my mood at the time I was selecting. If it was right now it would probably be There is a light that never goes out - The Smiths Still Life in Mobile Homes - Japan Complex - Gary Numan Possibly Maybe - Bjork Trans-Europe Express - Kraftwerk Black Cloud - Morrissey Citizen Erased - Muse Deeply Concerned - The Associates Ask me again tomorrow and it will be completely different.

It is so nice to listen to such classic masterpieces while lying or sitting on a beautiful shoreline!

An interesting list - I can't say that I've heard all the songs, but at least I've heard of nearly all the performers!

Desert Island Music. My first choice would be the sound of the sea, the wind and the trill of the birds. The second option would be Beethoven or Mozart
