This post is so depressing I also did some search on the Net to know more about this from other sources and what this post says is so very true. Can the world not do anything to change the situation. Why are the great powers silent on this? https://reliefweb.int/report/venezuela-bolivarian-republic/venezuela-dire-living-conditions-worsening-day-un-human-rights

Strangely enough, Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the opposition Labour Party in the UK, holds up Venezuela as a shining example of how a country should be run. I fear for us if he ever gets voted into power!!

I have read a lot about this. Many major league baseball players come from Venezuela, and their families keep getting kidnapped and held for ransom. They are irate at what their country has allowed, and are angry at the constant fear their families live under. One major league baseball player was kidnapped at his home during the off-season. His agent paid the ransom, and he was released.

@allknowing I just read about the release of a major league baseball player's 72 year old mother. The people who kidnapped her were rogue police officers!

Interfering in another country is very tricky. We have a bad history of doing so. The answers there are hard to find.

@JamesHxstatic Yes I have been reading about that. So according to you it is a hopeless case. I do not want to believe that. Why have UN then I had a great opinion of Aung San Suu Kyi nobel peace prize winner and see what she is up to with the Rohingas

@allknowing They don't have a great record of accomplishment and many countries with dictators would vote against any action, I'm afraid. Things are even worse in Myanmar, mass slaughter of the Rohinga and nothing was done really.

That's so sad to read about the conditions in those countries and it's pity because these people are lovely. I think an international act is needed...
