Hairdresser's donations

Today it's bank holiday here because of Carnaval. But, the hairdresser here worked today, so I decided to go for a hair cut. The last time I went was about three years ago and it was already too large and uncomfortable. My surprise was that the owner and all the stuff changed since the last time I've been there. After washing my hair, the hairdresser did a first cut of the tail hair and asked me if I want to save it. My answer was no, as I don't need or use it for any purpose. Then, she explained me that they usually donate the large cut hair to children with cancer. I was glad to hear that they cooperate with such a purpose. So, I told her that if they can use it to go ahead. It's nice to see that some companies collaborates with some organizations and that we may help with a simple act.

I have never done it because if you color your hair you can’t do it. It was nice that you went ahead and did it.

@Meramar I think it has to do with all the chemicals in it

You can't do it if it's colored? I didn't know that. Is there any special reason?

My grand daughter has grown her hair long twice now and donated it to Locks Of Love for people with cancer. They make wigs out of the hair they cut if it is long enough. Nice that you were able to do that as well.

Years ago I read that some hairdressers buy long hair to make after extensions and wigs from the natural hair. Normally, those extensions and wigs are sold afterwards, as there are many persons interested in buying natural hair for different purposes. Personally, I prefer to help to those who really needs it without getting any money for it. So I was glad to hear that they collaborate with such a purpose.
