Chinese New Year series: Reunion dinner

One of the traditions for Chinese New Year is the reunion dinner in Chinese New Year's eve. Usually all the family members will come home and have dinner together. We just had our reunion dinner at my parents-in-law's house. We ordered a pot of food from restaurant, and my mom-in-law prepared some dishes as well. She always prepares more, so we still have some leftover for tomorrow. We also had a reunion lunch at my mom's house this afternoon. After I got married, we always have the reunion dinner at in-law's house, and lunch at my parents'. Chinese New Year seems to be lots of eating, gathering, and perhaps playing for kids. Have you seen any Chinese New Year celebration?

No, I have not seen real Chinese reunions. More or less we did the same for Christmas. Christmas eve dinner with my in-laws and Christmas lunch with my parents.

Yes, I think we all have our festivals for gathering or reunion. I think Thanksgiving is also a festival for reunion, right?

@kaka135 No, Thanksgiving is not at all celebrated in Europe, it's only an American (and Canadian) celebration.

Yes, I think the kids enjoy the food and fun, and the adults may enjoy the gathering more, and the food too.

Christmas and New Year means a lot of eating and celebrating for us too. It is good to get together with family at these times.

@kaka135 It's tradition isn't it? Anything good seems to need a feast to go with it.

I love the Chinese new year. I wish we had something similar. We kinda did but its more focused on shopping than time with family. Enjoy your new year celebrations

Shopping because of buying the Christmas gifts, right? We do some shopping too, but we usually give food to friends or relatives and also prepare food at home, so we don't really spend so much time shopping, but more time preparing food.

Thanks! They are all prepared by my mom-in-law. Luckily this year we ordered the pot of food from restaurant, hence she didn't need to prepare so much. I couldn't help her because I always went back to my parents' house in the afternoon.
