Looking forward to the long weekend.

Just one more day of work and then three days off. I am so ready for a long weekend. This is the first year our province will be celebrating this statutory holiday. Monday is Family Day. You got to love a day off with pay.
The Canadian provinces of Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick observe the holiday on the third Monday of February. In British Columbia it is on the second Monday of February.
The holiday celebrates the importance of families and family life to people and their communities. I will be spending the day with my family. The city has a number of family events planned for that day.
How are you all doing today? Does your country have a holiday to celebrate family life?

Glad you're going to have a long weekend and it's especially nice that your area has made family day a holiday. Here in the US Monday is a holiday too but it's Presidents Day.

No we don't have a Family Day, but I think that's an excellent idea. We have plenty of other holidays in the U.S. that we do basically spend with family, but what you are talking about is specially to honor family life. I like that thought. I hope you have a lot of fun! I don't work outside the home anymore, I'm retired, but I sure remember how great those three day weekends were. We have "President's Day" coming. Both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln two of our great past presidents, have birthdays in February. So eventually they got combined to give us a Monday holiday. When I was a kid, we got both Lincoln's and Washington's actual birth dates off school.
