Lots of potential oportunites in acting

The indie film, "Stars In His Eyes" is set to film in Portland at the end of March. A local, experienced director is making it. This is the one where I need to get my Sicilian accent on, since I play a Mafia Don. It will be only a few hours work, but fun and decent pay. Another director I worked with some wants submissions for a "narrator" this weekend for a nature documentary he is doing, so will do a one minute video to submit for that. PDXtras, site in Portland is looking for a wide range of people with some experience for a well paid public interest commercial to be filmed next week. I submitted a resume this morning. There are two or three other things out there that I am eligible for. There are lots of actors in the Portland area, even older guys like me. But there seem to be more opportunities lately too. It is just a hobby really, but more fun than I ever had at work.

Wow, you have better opportunities out there than my friends here who are fighting for any role they can get their hands on! Well good luck . . . can I have your autograph?

It's great that there are even a few opportunities out there. I hope you nail that accent! Don't forget to drop it again when filming is over.

@JudyEv Oh how dreadful that this happens over and over, so often that I said to Anne tonight that I wondered in what city was the next crazy person plotting the next one. One of the first happened in 1998 in the city next door to us when Kip Kinkel killed his parents and shot up Thurston High School, killing two more and wounding 25.

@JamesHxstatic Well, if the accent refuses to be dropped don't start carrying a violin case around as well! I was going to write 'you might get yourself shot' but I feel that is a very bad joke at the moment. So terrible what happened in Florida.

Here is what Wikipedia says, better than my answer: An independent film, independent movie, indie film or indie movie is a feature film that is produced outside the major film studio system, in addition to being produced and distributed by independent entertainment companies. Independent films are sometimes distinguishable by their content and style and the way in which the filmmakers' personal artistic vision is realized. Usually, but not always, independent films are made with considerably lower budgets than major studio movies.[1][2] Generally, the marketing of independent films is characterized by limited release, but can also have major marketing campaigns and a wide release. Independent films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals before distribution (theatrical or retail release). An independent film production can rival a mainstream film production if it has the necessary funding and distribution.

I keep trying and having fun too. Thanks @amadeo! By the way, the director of the film Stars in His Eyes is a gay friend and some of the characters are as well. They outsmart the Mafia.
