Unexpected Visit Was a Treat

On Monday afternoon I got a text from my granddaughter Amie asking me if she could stop by and see us Tuesday and sleep overnight at our house. As you can imagine I was delighted. Amie is almost 23. She graduated from college in Miami last year with a degree in organic science. She is a farmer. She just spent 3 weeks on an organic farm in Arizona and was on her way to spend Valentine's day with her boyfriend in Miami before heading home to Connecticut where she also works on an organic farm. She had her dog Addie with her and she was sleeping in her car. She is all of 85 pounds and just as cute as a button. My son Jason won't let her travel without Addie who is a great guard dog. Amie is a vegetarian so I made some homemade lentil soup and a salad for dinner and cinnamon coffee cake for dessert. We had a wonderful visit and she really enjoyed having a hot shower and a comfortable bed. She stayed until noon on Wednesday since it would take her about 4.5 hours to drive to Miami. We were very sad to see her go but it was a pure delight to have her stop and spend some time with us.

What a great visit this would have been. And I can just imagine that Addie takes her duties very seriously.

@JudyEv Yes that is very strange. I assumed they were used to herd sheep in Australia,

@BelleStarr I've probably said it before but Australian shepherds have nothing to do with Australia! I find that very strange.

She is adorable and how wonderful that you got to spend some time with her! I'm so glad to hear that she's into organic farming. I wouldn't be surprised if the farm in CT supplies some of our wonderful farm to table restaurants!!!! Addie is almost as big as Amie!
