The Brother's Keeper.

A couple of years ago, my brother's finances went into shambles. Not that he was amiss nor was he irresponsible. It was the dictates of the times, the condition of his family, the demise of my mother. He was a man alone caring for one too many. Had I been on his situation, I would have lost the battle. So, I told him to come visit me and relax a little. When he did, I gave him a little sum. Not much but it could get him through the peril. We siblings have a long understanding: we do not expect a payback. It is a surprise to me then that he's given me a New Year's good tidings. And a Valentine's. And a Kung Hei Fat Choi. Ha ha. Wasn't much but enough for me to treat my less fortunate friends to good lunch at the mall.

That is wonderful that you can help each other like that. It is to be treasured. I have one sister who is so grudging it is not nice.

Yup, that's actually one wonder in life, we look out for the welfare of our siblings, no matter the differences in our outlook in life.

It is nice to be able to help our siblings when they are having difficulties and it's clear he was grateful for your help.

That is true. That is why I couldn't quite understand when some siblings envy and quarrel with each other. But of course, I know that that is the first mortal sin committed on earth: Cain's envy on Abel. As for me, my siblings may be far away but I hold them dear in my heart each moment of my life.

Family should always be there in times when needed most. Don't have to ask because we can feel...It's always good feelings when we can share whatever we have. It's not the amount or thing that we can share that matters but the thought that comes with it.

That is how it should be, we look after each other as siblings. Your brother seems like he truly deserves the help as his misfortunes are just due to bad circumstances to which all of us are vulnerable to at any time. I hope he is able to get back on his feet, learn from mistakes and recover from these really tough times. For now continue to be his strength and support.

My brother has recovered, I believe, but he still needs company. He's got our eldest sibling for support right now. For my part, I offer prayers everyday. Thank you for that beautiful response.
