The Philippines is right off the China Sea. Once in the far off distant past, Li Ma Hong made his trading in the shores of Manila, thus, the cultural heritage of China has become the Philippines' own. Today welcomes the earth dog, a holiday. The malls and Chinatown are festivity scenes with dragon dances. I was buzzed by two dragons. Delighted, I took snap shots and posted the pictures on my pages. A friend told me that should one gets buzzed, one must readily give the dragon dancer a red envelope with money in it. Oh, wow, I didn't know that. I am sorry. But I do hope I become prosperous still. Here's to all of us, even if we are not Chinese. Have a prosperous New Year.

I hope Ingrid gets to read this coz this properly explains why we make the Chinese New year a holiday though I already told her we have adopted the Chinese tradition as our own.

Was if roughly six hundred years under the Chinese? I think my grandma looks more Chinese than Malay or Spaniard. We all have Chinese blood running in our veins. That is why I love poi and pan cit.

The red envelopes have great significance it seems in many areas of Asian culture.
