In the series «Why I get this ad on myLot ?», why am I getting ads in Italian today ???

Maybe is it because my last discussion was about Venice ? If I like Venice, I like the sea, it explains perhaps why one of these ads offers me a 30% discount on a cruise ? Google is so smart to guess what I want ! But, no, I am not interested by cruises. The other one is for an election next March in Italy. They propose me to «Choose an Italy competent and honest»... It is a candidate for the coalition directed by Berlusconi. At 81 y.o. Berlusconi himself cannot be elected because he has been sentenced for tax cheating. Any Italian knows how honest he is. And the two other parties going with his party to this election are the usual (we can say «usual» now) far right populist parties : xenophobic, anti-immigration, anti-EU, etc. I clicked on the ad. This candidate is living in Switzerland in Zurich, which is a bit weird for a proud nationalist, I hope the ad has not been paid by Russia which is sponsoring all these populist parties dreaming to live in autarcy. In the past Rome invented clientelism. Clientelism had a cost for the patron, he had to pay or offer some goods to get votes from his clients. Populism is a big improvement for a politician, you promise whatever your client want, you will pay after the election. There is another populist party in the competition in Italy, the M5S. The M5S is not from the left, not from the right, it is virtuous, so virtuous that its deputies are giving half of their wages to the state to support small and average businesses/industries in Italy. At least they posed for photos with big cheques like lottery winners. But a journalist investigated, and it seems that many forgot to send the real cheque : 1.5 million euros are lacking... The coalition and the M5S are overbidding. Vote for the M5S, all your taxes will be lowered, vote for the coalition your income tax will have a flat tax rate, etc. Let the best win, make Rome great again, and stop to display your stupid political ads in France !

I could vote, too! By marrying an Italian citizen I automatically became also an Italian citizen. I was rather surprised when I realised this. Today I got a thick envelope by post with all the documents for the oncoming election. I won't exercise my right to vote, though. I'm going to hand the documents over to a teacher of Italian at the secondary grammar school where I taught. He can use them in his lessons to teach political terminology.

It is not automatic in France but the citizenship can be asked and given after 4 years of marriage if the spouses are living together (it could be asked immediately after the marriage 20 years ago, but a law has modified it to fight marriages of convenience). It is funny, I would have voted.

@MALUSE For what I read, they will have a hard time to form a government after this election. They like to live in a political mess.

Have you checked if for some unknown reason your Internet connection is going out through Italy today? I have spam in my email and also in my non virtual mail box from Italian politicians who want my vote. I have even already received the forms to vote (I will not tell what I have done of them). Italy will never change, no matter who is going to be elected. We do not have politicians, we have clowns.

No, I am in the same place at 1000 km of the Italian border. It lasted about 1/2 hour, I did not thought to check if the IP had changed during this period. I do not think that this election will change the face of Italy, but it is worrying to see so many populist parties in your country. For the investigation about the M5S I have to admit that I had fun when I heard it, this can happen only in Italy.

All I am seeing all over the place is PuigPuig our querido PuigPuig who is now or seems to be living in that posh house he has rented and he has pow wows with his Lawyers and friends on how to get around all the problems he has or does not seem to have. So at writing this bit I wonder if I will start to get Catalan stuff on the pages I surf on. Just kidding. Also Ruffian has been exalting PuigPuig all over the place. Who knows what they are up to now?

How the things are going for him, I do not understand why he has not the courage to go to the Spanish border and to surrender to the police. He can even go to the French border with Belgium, we would offer him the travel to Spain for free, it is a bargain.

@topffer A real bargain at that. I don´t think that he will appear for quite a time you know. Now they are trying to get Castellano accepted back again in the Schools in Catalunya. Its all quite bizarre what is going on but hey it fills the Newspapers and who can forget his face after seeing it so many times a day? I hope he enjoys his posh house and all the meetings of which he makes no secret of at all. He is acting like a Film Star and you would not believe the amount of people that support him all the way.

@lovinangelsinstead21 He will be forgotten soon if he stays in Belgium. Catalan is a nice language but teaching only it to children will close them opportunities for their future compared to Castillan. It is good that parents are realizing it. I will have a look to Spanish news.

Off-subject I guess, but I keep noticing that some discussions I open have nothing at all on the sidebars. And luckily I never get anything in Italian!

Targeted adverts...sometimes they're on target sometimes not...only way to avoid them is using a tor type software...then you're pretty much off the grid.
