Happy Friday from fabulous Florida! The last time we saw our friend (in the middle of my photo) was on Friday, October 6th. 6 days later, she underwent surgery for a rare type of colon cancer. She has undergone 6 out of 12 rounds of chemotherapy in New York, so won't be spending this season at her condo here in Florida. However, her daughter is flying down tonight with two of her friends today for a very long weekend. I adore her daughter. We hit it off the moment we met years ago. We loaded her parents' refrigerator, left a giant bouquet of flowers, and a bottle of wine for the girls. I've already invited the girls for cocktails and dinner here on Sunday. The weather will be perfect for them to hang at the pool and beach and thrive in the sunshine. And my Friday date night will be spent with my husband and brother. We will take him out for a goodbye dinner. My brother will fly home tomorrow, but will return February 28 with his wife and dog for the the month of March. So how is/was your Friday shaping up???

Sorry to hear you will not be spending time with your friend. I hope she recovers soon from her surgery. I know all about cancer just lost my sister to brain cancer in January she fought the battle for ten and a half years at least she is no longer in pain. I hope your friends daughter and her friends enjoy the goodies you got them. Enjoy your date tonight with your husband and brother I will be at home mylotting and reading while boyfriend goes ice fishing.

I'm soooo sorry about your loss. We said the same thing when my father passed away from that horrible killer. Hugs to you. Enjoy your day and hopefully your boyfriend will catch many delicious fish.

How is your friend doing? Chemo can be really brutal for some people. My father in law just had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and I believe will be starting chemo soon. It will be nice for you getting to see your friends daughter as well as having dinner with your brother.

She has a wonderful attitude, which is so important, but the chemo is taking its toll. I pray for her every day and will do the same for your FIL. I'm so excited to see her daughter, but sad to see my brother leave, yet again.

You guys are the best - what a nice thing to do for your friends' daughter and company! I hope your friend has a speedy recovery from this - halfway there! Not that we are Chinese, but yesterday was Chinese New Year . . . I was going to cook up this Chinese meal last night but couldn't. We got back home very late (my daughter had an orthodontist consultation appointment) plus I had a raging headache. My son and I fell asleep on the couch while watching Olympics - we didn't have dinner til after 9 when my husband came home! Today we are all better - and I'll make up for the Chinese cooking tonight!

@DianneN You guys are always there for your friends and family . . . so helpful and supportive ! Yes, lots of work involved - but I made the menu minimal. Chinese style pork ribs, fried veggie rice, and sauteed baby bokchoy and broccoli! Yum!

Oh, what a day you had! So glad you are better today. We used to celebrate Chinese New Year in NYC which Chinese friends of ours. Hope your meal turned out well. Such chopping and dicing involved! Thank you. My husband had to help our friend's daughter turn her hot water heater on tonight. Never a dull moment!

@DianneN Sauteed or stir fry greens is easy . . . pick any greens . . . then put it in a hot pan with oil . . . add minced garlic and green onions . . . then soy sauce and fresh ground pepper - voila - instant Asian side. Some recipes say to add a touch of sugar - but we never do.

We went to a firing range the whole day of Friday and was exhausted to go out Friday night. You look so beautiful in the photo. Love that black dress.

I'm glad her daughters are able to join you. I hope your friend is doing okay and is winning this battle. I hope they have a wonderful weekend with plenty of sunshine. As for my Friday. It was calm, sort of. My brain was going nuts as usual when I'm working on a book. When I got away from it, it seemed so intensely quiet in the apartment. A couple hours watching the Olympics took care of the quiet, and then I watched a favorite Jimmy Stewart Movie on TCM - Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Then I read for a few minutes and turned out the light until this morning. So, I would say it was a good day. I hope your brother has a good flight home.

Thank you! I hope she will be okay. She still has a long road ahead of her. We've had nothing but pure sunshine for ten days straight and the forecast looks the same for the rest of the month. 80 during the day and 68-73 at night. They will enjoy the weather for sure! Glad to hear you had such a good day! Take it easy so you don't have a relapse. My brother arrived home safe and sound, thank goodness.

@just4him Thank you! They left a few minutes ago and we all had such a great time. I'm meeting them at the pool tomorrow for more laughs. My stomach still aches from laughing so hard. Enjoy your time in the pool. I think I will do so laps tomorrow. I need it after what I consumed today!!!!

I think about your friend a lot. I know this is earlier in February. So, how is your friend doing now? Did they finally get the cancer out of her? Will she live a long life?

@DianneN Oh my, I just saw an acquaintance of mine in the store. She had written on FB she was in the hopsital. She was using one of those scooter type carts. I was really surprised to see her..because she doesn't live in this end of the county and I thought she was in the hospital. She is bleeding or leaking from somewhere apparently..they want to give her transfusions..She said she told them she couldn't stay in the hospital.

@snowy22315 Yikes! That sounds awful and serious. I would stay in the hospital as long as it took to cure that! Very sad!

I hope your friend will be able to beat that cancer or at least get it into remission. Wezzz gettin RAIN, RAIN, RAIN FABULOUS RAIN and of course I love it. However, now that my little stone pine has been planted I worry that it might be too much rain for him .... I named him Harvey.

She is quite ill now. She's had 6 rounds and needs 6 more. Tomorrow will be her 7th round of chemotherapy. She's lost weight, is beginning to lose her beautiful hair, is raspy voiced, and her nails have changed.

My mom is going through the chemo cycles she had her first 2 days back. She will have total 12 cycles then will have surgery, chemo again and then radiations. I don't know how she is going tolerate it as after a day after chemo she had very low bp and had been hospitalized .
