Another overplayed classic rock radio staple that many of you are familiar with. Fourwalls probably knows the lyrics by heart. “Take the Money and Run” is written by Steve Miller and among his best known hits. The song appears on Miller’s monster four times platinum album “Fly Like an Eagle” (also containing “Rock’n Me”) and peaked at Billboard Hot 100 #11. “Take the Money and Run” is about those young kids Billy Joe and Bobby Sue on the run and pursued by “Billy Mack is a detective down in Texas.” Nothing too deep here but a B movie plot. “Take the Money and Run” is light years better than that space cowboy Mo-rice.
Recorded from the April Wine / Steve Miller concert in the fall of 1982. I think this is a great version of the classic "take the money and run" I was amazed...

Nice upbeat tune. Miller tried to write these road trip type songs similar to the ones he listened to on the radio as a kid, while riding on the road in his parents car. Interesting note: the songs title was also used in an old Woody Allen movie.

Never heard of this guy.
He needs a rhyming dictionary, doesn’t he....”El Paso” And “hassle” don’t rhyme. And let’s not even get started on “Texas/facts is/Justice/taxes”....
But yeah, it was the summer of 76, and at least this wasn’t disco.

Since he comes to Red Rocks every summer, he should be here this year. And he will sell out, just like he does every summer!
