Where is all this leading to India?
Are we still not prepared to act?
He sat besides a girl and did that.
A recording of it was uploaded. His face is known too.
Still he is not caught. And even worse ..there are no proper laws that will prevent such things in future since there are no serious punishments.
Law enforcement is also tough with this size population.
Where are we going?

I remember some incidents happened in Kerala before six months. A police officer said in a statement, if a man stares a girl more than 14 seconds, it can be considered as a crime and may be punishable offence. There were mixed reactions on the same statement about this in the social media later. I have no idea what is the reality about the punishments.

Well, this happens all the time in Italy and it happens since I was a very young girl. Never go into a train too early, always wait that there are other women going inside. Do you believe it helps to call someone? Not at all, not in Italy.

Simply because nobody expects such things so there are no penal codes. Like that juvenile got away this guy will get away too. Remember Aruna Shanbhaug case? She was sodomized...no justice, whereas right of privacy for him has been upheld as in the case of the juvenile now adult in Nirbhaya's case. There has to be a hierarchy in laws. If a crime of this nature is committed, rights under these these these these laws would be abrogated.

It begs the question why someone would film it rather than come to the aid of the young girl. I think if that happened here the guy would get slapped by someone,.There are laws against it here and they would be prosecuted. I remember going on a train to London and apparently a man touched a lady inappropriately. When the train stopped at a station she pulled the alarm cord. We had to wait for the police to come who arrested the man.

From the look of it, it was the girl who filmed it...possibly he was not allowing her to leave the seat. He did not look like a tech savvy person, so possibly did not realize that she was recording. I haven't the details, but the fact that police station has recorded an FIR and even put a price for information on him, makes me feel this is a genuine case, in which the recording is not manipulated, and the girl was trapped in the seat next to this guy window seat you know, unable to move out because of a bag he was carrying and it was placed on his legs. That is how I read it.

@vandana7 Romeo squad is not limited to UP. The "Hindutva" or "Saffron" gang is everywhere who has taken upon themselves to be the "moral police". Recently, in Chandigarh (and this happened on Valentines) they surrounded a couple and these "moral police" were scolding and humiliating the couple for being out alone. They decided to then molest the girl by touching her inappropriately and kissing her forcefully.

Now that's really quite sad. These kind of people are crazy. They need psychological treatment or be detained where they can't harm others. It's considered a criminal act here and people are detained when they are caught doing that in public.

Yeah...and no lawmaker is getting up from his sleep, neither the Congress, nor BJP. If BJP wants to come to power, three serious steps, start river linking, correct laws relating to women, and bite the bullet for curtailing population, and fourth combine all elections. As I see - their chances to return in 2019 have come down drastically. They might as well take serious measures which will force many to think whether they are progressive or not. First one is the only one that needs much money outlay. Rest won't cost much.
