“Money (That’s What I Want)” was written by Motown founder Berry Gordy and Jackie Bradford. The original 1959 recording by Barret Strong on Tamla Records was the first hit for Gordy’s fledgling record empire. The Beatles covered in in 1963. The version I prefer is by the Flying Lizards. The British “group” was formed by producer David Cunningham and consisted of rotating avant-garde musicians and singers. From the self-titled debut album, “Money (That’s What I Want)” placed #5 in the UK and amazingly Billboard #50. To say this cover is eclectic is an understatement. This is an example of early new wave electronica and Deborah Evans-Strickland’s vocals are effectively sardonic. The song was played in the early days of alternative radio.

Remember that "Da Da Da" by Trio? This is where they learned to sing that song. Unlike that song, however, this is fun.
