A Little Exterior Work Today

One of the bad things about Florida is the heat and humidity. It makes it very easy for mold to grow on almost any surface. We bought a power washer so that we can keep it from staying on the siding of our house. We can't stop it from growing but we can remove it. I decided to clear out the gutter on the front of the house. We have wire covering the gutter but the leaves from our huge tree cover the wire and pile up. I used a brush on a handle to pull it all down. I ended up with it on my face, on my shirt and plenty in my hair. lol It was a messy job. But I feel better about it. I think I am going to go and buy a ladder and some stronger covers, my lawn man told me he would do it for us but this tree does shed heavily and we only see him once a month this time of year. When you own a home, there are always jobs that need to be done.

It is never ending. That looks a lovely house especially with the tree in front despite it shedding its leaves into your gutters. We have some anti mould liquid but I don't think it works that well to be honest!

I wish there was something that would really work we have to do this pretty much every time we get down here. We love the tree, it shades the house and keeps it a little cooler.

@BelleStarr Ronseal make a six year anti mould paint although it says for walls and ceilings. I don't know if they make an external paint. It is a pain to have to do it every year!

That's why I own only in Montana. Here in California, I rent. Glad you got the job done, though. Was the shower after satisfying?

That's why we bought a condo down here. We don't have to worry about a thing. We have enough to worry about at home!

Yes I know but I didn't find one I liked here before we found this house so... and the villa we looked at had an HOA of $400 which hubs put his foot down on completely. It is a tradeoff I guess.

@BelleStarr Just as long as you are happy. That's all that matters. I won't tell you how much our HOA fee is, but it's a lot less than on the ocean! Actually, we want the board to increase it.

We live in a humid area, so I share your woes as we own a power washer for the same reason. My husband used to use it on our shed and on the back of the garage, other then that our home was brick so mold didn't grow on it, but it got dirty just the same and he'd blast it every year to keep it looking good. They are also handy on the cement driveway, sometimes big trees can cause discolouration on the cement, and the power washer will blast that off too. I think that I'd better quit before I sound like a commercial to buy a power washer.

We love ours both here and at home, cleaning off the deck and shed are biggies, But here the mold is much more aggressive and grows all year !!! At least in the north it doesn't grow in the winter lol

I would be pretty scared to have such a big tree so near the house, but I know in Florida shade is also important.

@BelleStarr We also love trees here. My heart was bleeding when we had to take down a big magnolia tree. The roots were rotting and there was a very high risk it would have fallen on the house.
