In India talking anything about sex is a big taboo. In rural India that would be considered as an abuse! Mr.Arunachalam Muruganatham a middle aged person from Tamilnadu state of India, having seen how bad the women of the country are suffering because of lack of menstrual hygiene. It was shocking to hear from him that that in rural India women don't get access to sanitary pad when they have menstruation, instead they use all unhygienic things like rags, leaves, brick or anything that can soak liquid during that time. In an attempt to help out the needy woman this man has invented a machine which is operable at lower cost and with much lower cost a sanitary napkin can be produced and the same can be supplied to rural women in India. Unfortunately neither Indian government nor any any NGO never came forward to support his mission initially. A movie was made on this man and about his work when people have come to know about him and started recognizing his work. Today because of his efforts most of the rural women have started using the low cost sanitary napkins and they have come to know about the menstrual hygiene! This man really deserves a big salutation and hats off to him on taking such a big step to bring the revolution where jut talking about the sex is considered taboo! I sincerely appreciate this man and the people involved with him in promoting the awareness about menstrual hygiene! What re your views about this dear friend? Kindly respond! Thanks! I am sorry I have not aware abut this news. I agree many women are not aware about the importance of hygiene at that time. Even educated girls do not know the side effects of using sanitary pads in an improper way. Glad to know that some one is there to care and I hope government will take steps to support him.

@AKRao24 We need more people talking about such things, and openly as keeping it under wraps is only harming us in some way or the other.

I fully agree with your views dear @vandana7 ! We need to have a big change in Indian society. Since we can hardly do anything to the old people who have their own notions and beliefs, we must encourage the young generation to talk about these types of things freely amongst their friends and also with their children! The Children of today will be the adults of tomorrow and I am happy that Miss World is going to various schools and promoting this part so that kids will feel free to talk about such issues with their future children! Thanks!

A man doing it is definitely worth a applause. Consider this, a much younger kid, was here on myLot, and we had to argue helluva lot about a topic like that with him, and he called it impure, and what not, and did not know women wear those or can wear those.

Remaining things will be taken care now as people have accepted that such things have vital role in one's life! Thanks!

@AKRao24 What that young man said was and I quote, "No one wants woman bleeding all over their living rooms, dining halls and kitchen like a damn dog. So, it is better if they stay locked in their rooms in those days." That was coming from a college graduate!

(I had to find the post haha) Congrats to the man!Women of all areas of India can benefit from. I recall reading a true story about a girl who lived in a very rual area in India. It was just her and about 20 members of her family. When the women endured this cycle they spent the entire time sitting over a hole in a tiny hut. This man is really changing lives.

Fortunately we have few people in India who are volunteering such work in the benefit of the society without expecting anything in the return. As you said he deserves the hats offs to him. We have another gem by name of Mr.Kailash Satyanrthi who works against child abuse and child trafficking and has got rescue home for them at various places in India. He has been awarded with Noble prize for peace in 2017. Thanks dear @JudyEv for the response!

Poverty, over population, illiteracy and disparity between the economic classes in then country are playing major role in child trafficking in India dear @JudyEv! Though steps are being taken to check this a lot has to be done as big mafias are involved in this fraudulent practice! Thanks!

@AKRao24 I read a very interesting book last year about two young sisters who became enslaved in India. Although it was fiction it seemed very well researched and have a good insight into how the child trafficking system operates.
