Tedious but honest

Have you ever done the right thing only to regret it? About a year ago - I ordered 3 items from a popular online auctions site. (I don't know if I can mention names here.) I ordered a necklace, earrings, and a ring. I got the necklace, and the earrings. It came from a foreign country - so I assumed that maybe the ring was sent separately - so I waited. And waited. No ring. So I wrote to the seller and let them know that I received the necklace, and the earrings, but not the ring. And that I would like a refund for the ring. Well, they sent a refund for the whole order. Now - this wasn't a big amount of money. All the items total came to less than $20. Of course it did come into my mind to say nothing and keep it. But that wouldn't be right. So I explained to them again that it was only the ring that I wanted refunded. And from there went on a volley of communication that lasted for days taking hours upon hours between me, the seller, the auction site and the payment site. In the end they refunded me for the ring only - which was the right thing. But what a headache. I figure this song fits:

Ah it was a headache. I know at times I wished I'd have kept the whole refund, but then I had also wished that I had said nothing about the missing ring. Happily it all got sorted out

Oh ugh... it was quite the ordeal. I wished at times I had kept the whole refund- and then at other times wishes I never mentioned the missing ring at all

I'm happy to hear you did the right thing, but that back and forth business would have driven me insane.

Oh yes, I was at wit's end.... I initially regretted just not keeping the refund for the whole thing.... then soon after that I regretted saying anything about the missing ring to start with

I'm glad you did the right thing. They were probably surprised by your honesty as so many people aren't.

Honesty brings good Karma. I saw The Fixx. Part of an 80's tour package. They were good, but they didn't play any of the old stuff.

@FayeHazel I have gone to the grocery store and noticed when outside forgot to have them charge me for something so went inside and paid for it. I could have not done that but then I would not have felt good about it.

It's a shame you had to ask so adamantly for it though. Should have been the first response.
