Lunch Date

United States
February 22, 2018 11:58am CST
It's downright nasty here today with colder temperatures and rain. Ugh What a difference a day makes when yesterday was so beautiful. Every Thursday my oldest daughter and I have lunch together. Today she said she would stop at Wendy's and bring me chili (which she knows I love) and we'd eat in since the weather isn't very cooperative. It's nice to stay home, enjoy a nice lunch and visit rather than go out somewhere today. My youngest daughter (who lives with me) has to work so she is missing out on our day of fun. It's so nice that my both daughters like to spend time with me (and my middle daughter would too if she didn't live more than an hour away). Other than that, there isn't much happening here on this Thursday afternoon. How about you?

It is raining here for the third day in a row now, getting a little depressing. Its nice to see that your daughters love to spend time with you, I have met so many whose kids ignore them and they spend time alone

I am very blessed with my family and we've had rain here too (ugh). I heard we won't see the sun here until Tuesday

@Marilynda1225 did you tell here that?most people in Florida always bragging about the weather. I will be going there soon.Think that is the best medication for me.Just want to lie on the beach and let the sun suck me up. Of course I will use plenty of sunscreen. The last time I was there.I saw all these ugly woman with their tan so black and leathery. They are gross. But they think it wonderful no thanks I love New England and the weather.

@diannen is a big meenie when she won't let us complain about the weather. She just likes to make us jealous of her sunny Florida weather every day

. It gets rather mundane, especially when it's the same old beautiful weather down here, day after day after day.. I see enough of it on national TV.

Still morning here, and quiet due to some uncalled for snow that fell overnight. My daughter lives about two hours away, but we talk quite often on the phone or she texts me. I am getting a bit better at that.

Texting is mostly the way I keep in contact with my son since he works hard every day and doesn't have much chance for long chit chats (I think that's a girl thing anyway). It's nice that you keep in touch with your daughter. If I remember correctly don't you go and spend time with her too?

I used to have lunch with my mother every Thursday, too. I may have mentioned it. What a lovely tradition! I golfed this morning, hung out at the pool and tried to myLot, and now have to hop into the shower and get ready to go out to dinner. A group of friends from our floor are all meeting at a local restaurant that will be new to us!

I do remember you mentioning that you had lunch with your mom every Thursday too. It's a special bond for me and my daughter as I'm sure it was with you and your mom. Hope you enjoyed your dinner out with friends. How was the new restaurant?

@Marilynda1225 It's a wonderful thing to spend time with your girls. Extra bonding time! We had a wonderful time. There were 9 of us all together, and the Italian food was excellent!

It would be so nice to have your daughters living so close even if one is an hour away. Our closest son is four hours by plane so it takes a bit more organising.

@JudyEv wow that's even longer. I'm going to see my son today and I haven't seen him since Christmas so I thought that was a long time between visits. I can understand that visiting your sons so far away takes planning and money.

I'm blessed that all my children live close by. My middle daughter and son are both about an hour away so even though I don't see them as often as my daughter who lives around the corner we do get together fairly often. 4 hours by plane to visit your son really takes a lot of planning. Guess you miss him

@Marilynda1225 We do and the younger one is about 23 hours by plane so that takes even more planning - and money.

The rain is here to stay for a few days but at least it's not cold enough to cause icy conditions.

I just got back from the stores plural a few minutes ago. Natually, I spent more than I wanted to..but honestly, if I had to..I probably wouldn't need any food for a month other than maybe fruit and milk..so I got some great deals.

Stocking up and getting good deals is something I try to take advantage of too. Spending a little extra now will pay off in the long run.

No daughters five sons could possibly have daughters when married. The mothers should be enjoying their daughters. Smiles to the parents out there.

I worked today. It was cloudy and cooler today, which helped the flood waters recede. This afternoon we enjoyed some nice bright sunshine.

Wendy's has decent chili but it's certainly not homemade.
