frozen fingers

I think my fingers are going to fall off. I only have myself to blame; my gloves are nestled safely in my bag, begging to be worn, but I had more important things to do than worry about my fingers whilst waiting for the bus. It is impossible to play games with gloves on, don't you know.
It has been a beautiful spring day. Bright blue skies, fluffy cottonwool clouds, sunshine sending happiness down upon the earth ... lovely. Yellow daffodils flutter against the vibrant green of the grass and tiny buds are trying to blossom, fooled by a cheeky sun.
Except for the temperature. It is colder than a very cold thing. It is not as cold as Russia, but colder than Iceland.
I don't *get* vaping. There's a man outside vaping away to his heart's content. It looks silly. And the amount of smoke he releases from his mouth after each puff makes him look much like an industrial chimney at a sugar factory.
Here in the middle of the city I can spy Old fighting with New, bicyclists cycling, young men drinking beer, dogs bounding, lovers arguing. The crane is unable to compete with the Catholic church for the title of I suit the skyline more. Mr and Mrs Homeless walk through the park, their worldly belongings strapped to their backs, their bodies wrapped in sleeping bags. I hope they find somewhere warm to rest their weary heads tonight.
My fingers are now unfrozen.
Blessed relief.

That would suit me ... I'd rather be cold than hot!

There are gloves, typically found in Debenhams, for some reason, that permit one to tap away to one's heart's content on one's mobile phone without having to lose all feeling in one's fingers or hands in the process...
Need gloves that work with your iPhone or Android smartphone or tablet? These special touchscreen gloves will keep your digits warm and digital devices working.

I mostly use mine for game-playing, checking emails and taking photos.

i've missed yer wonderful observations 'f all that goes 'round 'ja whilst waitin' fer the bus, durin' yer ride, etc. i doubt i'd forgone gloves to play a game? then 'gain i jest use my phone fer talkin' with folks 'n snappin' the odd pic here'n there. i hope those homeless folks also found 'em a place. 'tis so sad to hear 'f so many 'n not knowin' their needs makes such a situation that much more diff'cult to aide'n.

It is sad. What makes it somewhat sadder is that the media keep running stories about how lots of our local homeless aren't really homeless and just begging to make a couple of hundred pounds a day.

Well glad you warmed up your fingers. My fingers have no choice but to be a bit cold. I have only one really warm room in my drafty old house and that is where I stay now all day working on my PC. It is nighttime and I ma looking forward to my warm PJs and bed it is -9 C or 16 F and it does not get too much warmer during the day. It will warm up and go into the pluses by the second week of March talking about frozen fingers well mine are just a bit cold.

Ooh, we get to be as cold as you this week. Allegedly. But I never believe the weatherman until it happens!
