Good paying job or own business?

I have been in this thought for the past days, which would you choose? I am an employee and its good working for a company with good benefits but you wish you had more time for family and self. Bad thing is you rarely can get a job that is work-life balance. That's why I thought having my own business but I havent tried it. Which would you choose? And have you already decided?

We can't get everything perfectly.try to balance the work and family too as your working in good company.if you start new business it may or may not work properly.why should you take risk?

I think having a stable income is more safe than having a business that has unstable revenue and can be risky. But being an employee does require more time.

I think both can have their advantages. I'm not too sure what I'd chose. I guess it all depends on the situation, the job, the timing.

@jvincent_129 No right now I am not working. I have worked as an employee and as an independent contractor. So basically self-employed. But now I'm not working.

My husband has owned a business and it's a LOT of work and time away from home-more than people realize. When you own a business everything is on your shoulders and the people you hire do not care about your company the way you do-so most don't do things the right way.

It'll be good if you have a business and travelling around is not needed. I guess for your case it is also hard because your husband travels a lot and being away from the family.

@jvincent_129 No he doesn't travel. He has to be away because he works so much-he's not home, he is working. He works many hours each day so we don't see him much. Owning a business is a LOT of work!

If boss is good and money is good, than don't leave it. You need steady income for living.

I think that own business is better but you will not get more family time this way.

how about being an employee? you still dont have family time.

@gaianoor I think I better stick with being employed first. Or maybe there is a business that is small that way it can be more managable. I think your husband has a big business.

In fact having your business will even suffer a heavier pressure. The bosses are never so relaxed as well as you see. They have to even work harder and deal with many things and they can't quit easily since they own their business.

I have a business. I was born having a business and being an employee has never been my goal nor my parents goal for me. But it wasn't difficult for me and my siblings because we were born into it and we didn't have to decide. But wherever you do, just make sure that you make it work for you and your family's needs.

I prefer to lead than follow, So yes I want to build my own empire and have people wrapped around my fingers than be a subordinate who follows around.

I guess you have been tired of being a subordinate. It also feels good to lead a team but having you own empire is a big responsibility.

I am doing both. I work as a freelancer, so I have time for my little business as well. And I still have time for my family.

I work better individually than in groups...that is why I always want to work towards my own business. But I still am in the middle since most of the time I am freelancing. But I have other problems to deal with because there is no stability in freelance and owning businesses...it can stop giving profits at any time. For stability , maybe a job is better,

Thats what I thought of. Freelance is good but the income can come late. Its hard living that way . If you have children and you fund their needs like education.
