When Is The Flu Season?

I wondered about this and so I did some research. It seems that the flu season can start(people start contracting the flu) as early as October. Depending on the flu strain and how fast it spreads it could last until May. The flu peaks in January and February. An adult with the flu can infect another person up to a day before their symptoms develop. Flu symptoms start one to four days after the virus actually enters the body. They can infect others up to five to seven days after they are sick. The flu vaccine takes up to 14 days to take effect and this is the best way to avoid getting the flu.

We get shots in October and feel pretty safe. The vaccine this year missed one strain that infected thousands, but did protect against some that were even worse, so I'm glad to get shots each year.

Except when there is 2 different main flu and the vaccine targeted only one like this year. I was not vaccinated, and I got a flu at the beginning of January, but many people who had been vaccinated got it this year.

I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago after I learned we had 13 weeks left of flu season. I figured since I was at the doctor anyway I might as well. I hadn't had the shot in years, and I didn't get the flu. But this year's flu was so bad I wanted to get the shot.

I am not sure about it. But it seems that recently the flu is serious in many places. I even heard that it will be another peak in March.

During the flu season I do not go into any hospital. I stay away if I take someone there.

I don't go out at all during the winter months. Not being around people helps.

I think now the flu season is over and what people get are different viruses that are around.
