A day in A Social Worker's Life (3)

Bhumi Kumari (Sweety) is an orphan girl of 11 who lives in my foster family. She passed her primary school in December last year. She should have joined Class V in the local high school in January. But as it is with many abandoned children, she did not have a birth certificate. And so the school refused to admit her. I ran from pillar to post to get her a birth certificate. I got it today and without any delay I took Sweety to the school. She was accepted and her name was written in the school admission register. The office clerk gave her identity card, her roll number and class section. I could see joy written on her face and I was happy too to have completed the job. I rode to River Research Primary School to get a 'student certificate' for another child, who used to be a student there but now works as a driver in our farm. Unfortunately, the school office was closed. Saturdays are half working days so the school closed early. In the evening, I went with others to see our director, who is in the hospital. The nurses told his condition is stable now. I look back and see there was some success and some failure. That's what our life is made of. Isn't it?

Your life is made in a beautiful way. Helping people to succeed for a career is really a dream. You must be a happy person. I envy you although just like teaching, I don't know if they will pay you well. Anyway, your reward is surely in heaven for helping poor people like Sweety.

I have no salary. Neither will the students pay me any money. I live because I eat with the orphans. Still, I am happy doing what I am doing. I don't know what I would do if I left doing this work. Thanks for appreciating.

@franxav As long as you are happy doing what you are doing, please continue. God will repay you for all your sacrifices.

Thank you for reminding me of that fact. I'm having a time in my life that I'm looking at the failures and the bad times. I have the bullies on me overshadowing the few good times. I need to stop and really enjoy the few beautiful and happy times I have right now, just as your post has reminded me to do. An the next time you see your director tell him that Toni the teddy bear maker, whose house burned down in California, sends her love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I'll be praying for him. Thank you for a fantastic post!

I did not go to work today. Tomorrow I have another doctor's appointment, and then I will hopefully be able to go to work afterward. Different jobs certainly have their different "busy-ness !"
