Back from the grocery store

It never did stop raining so I just forced myself to get up and go. It wasn't too crowded which was nice. I found almost everything I needed. No celeriac so I will have to stop at the grocery store on the way home from work tomorrow to get that and the cucumber that I forgot to buy. I also found a cut up whole kosher chicken on 50% off sale for $5 and change. I grabbed that right up. It wasn't on my list but it can go in the freezer for future use. There really weren't any other good meat deals other than chicken drumsticks and duck breasts and we don't eat those so I passed. Glad that I finally got it done and for only $78 for the week.

@ricki_911 oh I've been making all sorts of stuff--Carne Asada, Green Chile Chicken Thighs, Cilantro-Poached Fish, Mexican Red Rice, Roasted Yellow Squash with Garlic Mojo, etc. On Chowhound More Mexican Everyday is the cookbook of the month so we've all been trying out various recipes in it and reporting on our results. https://www.chowhound.com/post/february-2018-cotm-mexican-everyday-part-vegetables-heart-1068338 https://www.chowhound.com/post/february-2018-cotm-mexican-everyday-part-daily-inspirations-1068340

Sorry to hear that you had to go in the rain. But at least it's done and you don't have to worry about it until next weekend, hopefully.

Sounds like the trip to the grocery store in the rain was well worth it. Good for you.

I do really well on my own now. Due to the deep freeze here I don't go out but got my groceries online and delivered yesterday. I can store up during the month, freeze what I don't use right away and have meals to make all for $50. Usually I order about twice a month because my darling cat Sid eats like a horse and I always have to make sure I have his food on hand of course. Otherwise, if it was just me I could do with once a month shopping. When the weather gets warmer I will just go grocery shopping to my nearest store. I need the exercise.

Nice! I got a little bit yesterday (but forgot the toilet paper!) and am holding out until payday for a bigger stockup.

The grocery store is always crowded here. I don't know how they do it, but it needs a lot of time. I don't like doing it because of the crowd.
