I Got My Quarter Back

I know you guys are all perfect and you don't forget anything, or have lapses of memory, but everything works just the way you planned it. Right? Well, I'm not perfect, and yesterday proved just how imperfect I am. Yesterday was laundry day, as I was packing up to go I took and put my purse/bag in the bottom of my shopping cart, and loaded the laundry on top, and trucked it out to the car, loaded the laundry in the trunk and put my bag in the seat beside me and went to my son's to do laundry. I knew on my way home, I needed to stop for groceries, and wondered which of the three places I should go. My budget is extra tight this month with both my car insurance and my car registration due, so it was the least expensive of the three to go, Aldi. I keep a quarter in the cup holder in my car, so I didn't need to dig a quarter out of my wallet. So, off I went, got my cart and proceeded into Aldi to get something for supper yesterday and dinner today. My plan is to do shopping by the day now instead of mass shopping. So, I didn't have a lot when I got to the checkout and started looking for my wallet in the super light bag. I had put the movie in my bag I wanted to watch with my grandson yesterday, and put three plastic bags in there so I wouldn't need to buy a bag from Aldi, but it never occurred to me that my wallet wasn't in my bag. Not until I got to the checkout. With my five items on the counter for checkout, I told the cashier I couldn't purchase the items. He asked if it was in the car. I told him 'no', and left the cart in the store, and hurried home, mindful of the time, as well, and groceries would need to wait until after church. On my way home, I went over in my head where I had put my wallet. I knew it wasn't in my gym bag, where I put it every morning, and then remembered, Wednesday was payday, and that meant, bills were paid. It was on or near the computer. Which is exactly where I found it when I got home. This morning, after church, I dug a quarter out of my wallet for the cart, and proceeded to the cart area, when a woman pushed a cart into the area, and just left. I didn't need to use the quarter in my hand. I could use the cart she just left there. I got my quarter back and my five items I wanted to get yesterday. God is so good to give me back a quarter. Even the smallest things matter to God. I also had green lights all the way from church to Aldi. Which was extra nice. Right now I have boneless beef ribs, four small potatoes, and two onions in a baking dish in the oven. I should be eating in about an hour. By the way, it was also the same cashier from yesterday, though he didn't recognize me as the brainless person who was there yesterday and couldn't purchase those five items because I forgot my wallet. I am so blessed. What has God done for you lately that you felt extra blessed? Thanks for reading.

Yes! Its a great way to keep costs down by having people take care of their own cart

Some grocery stores around here ask for $1.00 deposit for their cart. Some only $0.25

It makes people put the cart back to get their quarter instead of leaving them all over the parking lot

I feel extra blessed if both my husband and I wake up in the morning able to function normally, and extremely thankful every morning we both wake up. We are at an age where we can no long take waking up for granted. Waking up feeling good enough to be productive is an extra blessing.

@bagarad No. You get your quarter back when you put the cart back and chain it up. The quarter releases the chain so you can use the cart. When you chain it back up, you get your quarter back.

@just4him So that's how they keep people from stealing the carts like the homeless do here to carry their belongings to their encampments.

Yes, it was an unexpected blessing. I'm glad too. At least I knew it was in the apartment.

I actually know people that hang around in the Aldi parking lot waiting for lazy customers to leave their shopping carts out without putting them back, and then they'll grab them and go return them and get a quarter. I wouldn't say people make good money doing that, but I had one person tell me they can easily make a buck or two in just 10 minutes time, and maybe more on a busy Saturday.

I have often found a cart left in the parking lot and didn't need to dig out a quarter. Sometimes I gift my cart to another patron. Love to give a smile to someone and if it only costs a quarter, it is money well spent.

Yes, it is. I've even given my quarter to someone who was putting it back.

That is awesome! So we are going to rent a dumpster to tackle all my mom, grandmother, and sisters items (she doesn't want it and won't get it). I was worried about prices. Like how can I afford a 700+ rental plus charge per weight if we go over the lb contract. I have prayed and been debating. How? Hubby found a much better bargain with a different company! Thank you god!
