Jay Saw an Eagle Flying

While Jay was driving back from his mail route, he saw an American Eagle by the shore-line of Lake Huron. We don't see them often, so it was pretty exciting for my husband to see one. It was soaring towards a tree, then lit on one of its branches. To my husbands surprise the branch broke, causing this large bird to flounder a bit. The eagle immediately gripped onto a larger branch and gracefully perched himself, like nothing happened! Photo:borrowed from Pixabay

The eagles usually nest close-by the water, next to a lake or along a river.

I never thought of them not being all around the states. We see them quite often here and up where my gram lived there is a nesting site that they always come back to. They are really pretty!

We don't have very many around here, but they do have a nest by Lake Huron.

That would be a great adventure for the eagle. I haven't seen one for real though.

@kobesbuddy Even the Philippine Eagle, I haven't seen that often, too. I think the last time I saw it in the local Manila Zoo. It has been years.

Graceful bird. Is the American eagle native only to America?

Apparently there is a nest of Bald Eagles in North end of the town that I work in. I had no idea about it until last year when I saw many pictures of the birds in and around the nest on Facebook. Super cool!

@kobesbuddy There used to be a pair in Green Bay. I would see them flying around the downtown area when I was working. I haven't seen them in a long time. I hope they are not endangered, just not many in your area, just as they aren't here.

In flight they are magnificent creatures and very strong and very graceful. He was really lucky to see one like that. Glad the eagle did not hurt himself either.
