Does it bother you when people shorten your name?

Some people don't like shorten there names and calling them with short nicks.Most of the times it depends on the closeness of between the two people .But some even though feel uncomfortable when we shorten their original names ,they do feel that the meaning of their names changes ,like to be called with their full names.
Whatever it may be im comfortable and happy if my name is shorted and it depends on person too,as long as it is bit meaningful sweet and short I like it.
How about you friends?do you like your name to be called sweet and short :)?or it bothers you.

It doesn't bother me unless they are doing it to mock me. Then I might just punch them square in their face.

For me it depends on whom is shortening it, and how and where it is done.
My husband will often call me Jul, which I have never minded.
My Dad used to use all 3 of my names when he spoke to me, and I loved that, from him, but wouldn't from anyone else.
Julia is a short name, so there really isn't any need to shorten it further.

I absolutely hate it when people do that to me. They call me Court, instead of Courtney ans it irritates me so much. Like, I have a name for a reason.

My name almost can't be shorten and it is not easy to make a nickname from it. Whenever someone tries to shorten or create a nickname, I warn them in a funny way that it is not acceptable for me.

@Icydoll It has no meaning. Aniko was a nickname form of Anne. Later it became a separate name. This is why it can't be turned into a nickname easily.

I don't mind. My christian name is Linda and many people shorten it to Lyn but my best friend calls me Lindy Lou so she lengthens it!
