~Sad Day-Counting My Blessings~

Fire Down The Road
Valdosta, Georgia
March 1, 2018 3:07pm CST
The smoke filled, black air consumed my chest with a burn I have never felt before. The gusts of wind blew the flames from one direction to the other. The smell was unbearable and the panic in the area was more real than anything you can imagine. A sleeping and frigtened teenager got out of the smoke filled home just in time for his life to be saved. Otherwise, the house sits empty full of blackness and destroyed posessions. Thank God no lives were taken today from this horrifying accident a couple houses away from us. The fire fighters were also unharmed. The fire took 40 minutes to be put out-it was horrible. So grateful everyone is okay-most importantly. Feel so bad their house and belongings are destroyed though...

@Courage7 Yes it's so sad. I feel so bad for them. =( I'm glad everyone survived and no one was hurt too. The smoke wasn't too bad after about 40 minutes after the fire was out.

@LovingMyBabies I hope they will have a place to stay number one..you can always get stuff I guess but hope there was not too much sentimental stuff in the fire

@LovingMyBabies Thanks. If it was not for our church we would have been out on the street. Our landlord was a piece of crap

Very scary to hear about, nevermind see happen, or be involved in. Feel so bad they lost their home. But their lives are what is most important, and I'm glad they're all okay.

Oh Jen and you must have felt pretty scared by seeing all that it is very scary to see something on fire and so close to you. Thank goodness you and everyone is safe and the young lad saved his life too thank goodness for that also. Once we saw a fire real close up of a Store of tyres that had set on fire just the other corner from us where we lived there were huge billows of black smoke going up into the air and really scary.

@lovinangelsinstead21 It was very scary and I felt so bad for them. Now when I walk by their house it brings much sadness. =( I wish I could make it better for them but I know that's not possible.

I think a home fire or being in any fire is one thing most of us fear. No one wants to be burned while alive. No one wants to lose their home and precious possessions. No one wants to lose loved ones that could not be saved. I"m glad no one lost their lives in this fire, but I know their lives have still been turned upside down. I hope the family will have help in getting over this and back on their feet again.

@bagarad It is an awful thing to happen and yes a big fear for most of us. They have had help, thank God. We asked the other day if they need anything and she said they are doing okay. I feel so bad though. =(

@LovingMyBabies Of course you would feel bad. But I'm sure you will continue to be there for them if they need you, even if just for comfort and moral support.

We lost our house to a fire years ago. Someone torched the house next door and it spread to ours. It is a horrible thing to go through. Ours happened just before Christmas and the kids and I had to run out at 4 am. It was 10 degrees out. Glad everyone was okay near your place.

@LovingMyBabies Fires change lives in dramatic ways. I think that is why there are so many arsonists. They want life to be different and fire does that.

@Leapea2417 They think it was an electrical problem that started the fire.
