Winter Wonderland

We were warned. It was going to be a nasty night in Ontario and a lot of other places too.
We put the car in the garage and planned to stay in the whole day on Friday.
Before I went to bed I got a shot of the heavy rain and the snow going every which way with my iPad. its in the photo above, the street light in front of our house, allowing us to see the mess outside.
In the morning all the snow and rain had stopped and we were living in a beautiful cold gorgeous white world. It was magical.
Our neighbor with a snow blower got my other neighbor's driveway clear so he could go to work and then took our drive and cleaned it up. Once he was done with his noisy blower I put on boots and took my iPad, grabbed my walking stick and went for a walk around my house.
The snow was about a foot deep, I was looking at my trees and bushes and looking down into the ravine in the back of my house. It looked magical, so quiet, so white, everywhere.
It truly was a wonderful winter day.
I hope all of my friend here who are dealing with bad weather were not in the flooding on the east coast of the US, it looked awful on TV.
"To explain the photo" the top is my bittersweet covered in snow, the lower left is the drop off to the ravine and showing the tree tops from the ravine and my clothes line covered in snow too. The dark photo was taken the night before and shows the rain and snow and my wet front window...

@PainsOnSlate I had to go to Italy and I was very concerned for the ice on the roads. We have winter tires, we made it.

@LadyDuck We don't travel when the roads are damgerous. We usually wait for the snow to melt. Dr's appointment is the only reason to get in a car with a ton of snow on the ground for us. Although the highways are cleared first so that helps. In town its awful.

I saw on Facebook today that some places are flooding 
We got 15 1/2 inches at my house but thankfully did not loose power. Some people I know have had no power for over 24 hours. Another girl I know was on the highway in a huge line of cars that was not moving. She was cold, almost out of gas and had to sleep in her car for 26 hours. I am so thankful to have been able to stay home in a warm house. Some roads are still unpassable as trees are down.

@PainsOnSlate some years it's worse the others. Last year and this year have been tough winters. It's snowing lightly today and it isn't on the radar for the forecast so I'm hoping it won't stick as I have to go to town today.

@shaggin I read on my iPad its supposed to get to 40 degrees tomorrow...My husband said it will change and not get there but I have faith...

We have had a lot of snow but it came in small amounts, I think the deepest it was this winter was about a foot. I do remember other years when we measured by feet, I hope its melting now for you, Its still cold and a bit white but its not hoard to get from one place to another. I would hate ot be stuck on a highway... and i would hate to see trees coming down because of snow.

Those photos are beautiful. I like looking at pictures of snow, but so happy we don't have to deal with it here haha

I was a skier and loved winter, then I had a knee replacement and my surgeon took away my skis, I've disliked winter since that day but love to be free from pain. I get my other knee done next month. This last snow was beautiful!

@PainsOnSlate Oooh that is no fun. I lived in a place that snowed for 5 months, I hated it and I have had knee surgery before too and I was in so much pain! I like my dry, hot Arizona haha no pain from the weather.

Yes we are having the same weather in Connecticut, not however here in Florida. Have you already been here and returned home? I haven't seen you on in a while or maybe I just missed it.

Thankfully the snow has melted, but every day it rains and snows and leaves a clean white cover reminding us we live in Canada.

That one storm was beautiful, it was the beauty that made me happy, We still have snow on the ground but its not pretty anymore.

I love it after a snow shower, until it messy and muddy. So far the winter has not stopped and we are still getting snow daily.
