Happy Caturday!!!

What a fabulous day it is here in Southern Florida! I played golf and a group of us had lunch on the deck of the clubhouse. At lunch, I saw a couple whom we chatted with last night on our Friday date night. They stopped by our table today to say hello and had some wine with us. I love a coincidence! Unfortunately, it's not so terrific at my home in Connecticut. Our house lost power due to a neighbor's tree falling on the main transformer during heavy winds and rain. My son had the electric company remove the tree and is waiting for them to reconnect the power. Thank goodness we have a generator for moments like this. We cancelled dinner plans with a group of friends tonight. I'm too full from lunch and too beat from hours in the fresh air. How's your Caturday been?

I'm exhausted from all the shoveling. It's so heavy that I have had to keep doing a little then resting. I am quitting for the day. I'm so thankful my dad has a plow blade on his riding lawn mower that he did most of my driveway with. We got 15 1/2 inches Friday. Even though your son lost power thankfully the tree did not fall on your home. We had a bunch of limbs fall off our trees but no damage to anything. People here still have no power in some places and a girl I know was stuck on the highway for 26 hours. I felt so terrible for her and everyone else stranded on those highways.

@DianneN that would be pretty irritating. My neighbor won't allow my parents to cut the tree between his and my parents property. The leaves fall into my parents pool and block the sun so the pool doesn't get the warmth from it. Also if it falls it will land right on my parents pool and that is my mother's most prized possession.

@shaggin Wow you have been having a time of it. Don't hurt yourself shoveling all that snow. I'm sorry your buddy got stuck on the highway.

Yikes!!!! I had no idea you received so much snow!!! Glad your dad plowed most of your driveway. I knew exactly which tree on our neighor's property fell. They refused to have it taken down when we had huge trees removed in the fall. Lots of people without power still. I'm glad my son figured out how to work the generator, so he could heat the house and flush the toilets. Hope your friend is ok!

Has your power been restored? It's so distressing not to have power even if the generator is on. The generator means money being burned.

Thank you! The power returned and all is well. That generator was worth its weight in gold for providing the house with heat, well water, and electricity.

@DianneN This year is the opposite of last years when it comes to weather and I am grateful for it- mild most of the winter.

That is a really cute title Dianne. That is scary that a tree fell. I hope the cats were not near it. I hope they get the electricity back soon. Aren't you glad you were not there but must not have been fun for your son and daughter-in-law.

Thank you! My daughter-in-law went to her mother's house to get ready for the theater, a friend's baby shower, and her baby cousin's birthday party. My son handled everything on his own and did so beautifully. The power returned in the evening, and they were so happy. That generator was worth every penny, too. Doodles and his sister remained in the house the entire day.

@Hannihar I doubt it. They didn't realize it was off. My son kept them warm with blankets until he got the generator going.

Oh no - your son must've had quite a time dealing with that! But good he was there - hope your neighbor is ok too! Best to not overdo it - sometimes you just need a night off (even from the fun) to rest and recoop! No cats on our Caturday, but we drove in the rain to L.A. to that college for my daughter's art class as always - had a general good day. Tonight we are kicking it at home. Tomorrow we might go see a movie - family time as a whole!

The power is on finally. It apparently took them six hours to repair the transformer. My so was out at a party, and they were still working when he and his wife returned home. I'm so relieved he was there to take care of our house. My neighbors were fine. It sounds like you are a family of artists and so very creative. I'm impressed! What kind of art is your daughter taking? Have a wonderful family weekend and enjoy every moment together!!!!

I heard that Connecticut was getting strong winds and a power outage in some places! Was that tree from your own yard? Thank heavens, it didn't fall on your home!

Yes, CT had very strong winds. The tree was in our neighbor's yard close to the road. They chose not to have it cut down by our tree service when we had some huge ones removed in the fall.
