As we all know the slogan "All good things have to come to and end" whether it is your favorite television show or the career of an entertainer. Rico who was a Belgian Malinois male dog who served nine years with the Louisiana State Police Troop G in Bossier City Louisiana has officially been retired this month. Rico was handled by two handlers throughout his nine years of service. His handlers were Louisiana State Trooper First Class Paul Harris from 2009-2011 and Master Trooper Rodger Cason for the remainder of his career. Rico assisted the law enforcement in seizing about $4 million dollars in illegal drugs and cash throughout his career with the Louisiana State Police. Rico can now spend his remaining years with his handler Rodger Cason after his retirement from the police force.

The police dogs are invaluable in helping officers to catch criminal activity. Yes, it is sad when good things come to an end, but in case, Rico really isn't retiring, he is just moving on to the next phase of his life.

You are correct DB. Rico is now going to spend the rest of life enjoying his time at home with his handler.

That is a good question. Maybe with proper care about five years.
