Good Monday to us all. How is everybody? This morning, I and my sister went to the city hall to pay our real estate tax. At 9AM, it was already hot so I had with me a bottle of cold water to drink, because driving under the sun is causing us dehydration. My sister wanted that I drive the car to the city proper for her to buy hair dye, but I told her it was already getting hotter and I might not drive due to traffic as well. When we came home, I called up the post office to inquire about 2 greeting cards sent by a very precious lady in this site. The male employee who answered me was groping for words when I asked him why my mails haven’t reached me yet, considering that one was sent on November, and the other last Christmas. Finally, he asked for my landline number so he can call me up once he already has the cards. Our postal service here is getting worse. Last year, my big brother sent us a registered mail where the bank card for this year is in it. It took about 2 months when I told my sister to call up the post office personnel and ask about the mail. Do you get your snail mails on time as scheduled, or do they stay on standby mode in your post office?

98% of snail mail in Switzerland is delivered on scheduled time, that is 1 day for first class mail and 3 days for second class mail.

that is great. here, the registered mail is sometimes brought in after a week, and upon receipt, a valid ID card should be shown to the mailman. the ATM card that my big brother sent through registered mail was given after 2 months.if not for my initiative to call up the post office, we would not know that the card was 'sitting pretty' in their desk.

@ridingbet You need to show your ID and sign to get the registered mail, that is always delivered the day after.

I also had the same experience. snail mail really moves like a snail. Even slower than a snail i think...

indeed. if there is a term as 'sloth mail', or a 'slug mail', these would be appropriate for our mailing system here in our country.

Snail mails are no longer used here except by banks and other financial institutions. People use email all the time. I wonder how the post office now makes profit.

Having worked in our post office for many years I had had to answer so many questions about missing , late mail. I personally have not had too many problems. If a mail doesn't reach me within a certain time I assume it is lost and never question where it Is since I know the post office would never be able to find my one piece of mail among the millions of pieces they deal with in a day. However, it is registered that is a different issue. In any case if it is lost it is lost and the best one can hope for in that case is a refund of postage

i hope the mails will be sent back to where they came from, if the post office here cannot locate our house.

@Freelanzer i am waiting for the postman, and have instructed my son and my sister that should the cards are delivered, they could sign their names in the receipts.

i assume you have many mailmen in your area. here, so few mailmen now. and to become a postman, the applicant has to have a motorcycle.
