It Turned Out To Be So Enjoyable!

Last Friday March 2, hubby , me , her auntie and mother went to a posh hotel after my dismissal from office. to attend the ballroom dancing she had reserved for us Her 2 former officemates 35 years ago, also came since they were included in the reservation.
They hired two dance instructors, whom they have alternately danced with.
The place was filled with senior citizen women and their dance instructors.
When they began dancing after eating dinner, I was amazed at how good they are at ballroom dancing. They danced rumba, tango, cha-cha and reggae
Hubby went out because he finds the music loud and slept on the car.
One of the dance instructors when after all of the seniors were resting, asked me to dance with him to which I initially said, “I don’t know how to ballroom dance though”.
He told me to just follow his steps and he did lead me to dance well. The music was reggae and I found it easy. Soon, I was already enjoying it so much.
When it’s reggae, we danced and he commented I danced gracefully.
It turned out I also enjoyed ballroom dancing! No wonder, the senior ladies love ballroom dancing.
I think I would like to learn how to dance the other dances someday.
Do you know how to ballroom dance? Have you ever tried it? Do you like it?

Yes, if he only knows how to ballroom dance. Although, when we were younger, we go to discos and dance. But ballroom dance, he doesn't know how to dance though.
He is happy, I enjoyed dancing when we told him while we were in the car going home.
What about you, do you know any ballroom dance? What about cha-cha? I know that.

@hereandthere She worked here when she was still single and when in her 40's she met this American divorcee who is an engineer in Bataan nuclear plant before. They went to US to live when it closed.

Sounds like you had some amazing fun! As a figure skater, I wanted to cross train with dance . . . so during my lunch break from work, I took dance classes at a local community college. And one of the classes was ballroom dance (which I could use for ice dancing, but I never really cared to ice dance). I did enjoy it for the most part but having a good partner made a difference. Many of the males in my class danced like noodles .

@SIMPLYD I like it when a male can take the lead - but often, at least in class, the males didn't even know what to do with themselves, so how could they lead someone else .
I don't know that I could do it now (I don't remember all the steps but I do know the music/beats). However, I enjoyed free dancing - and street dancing - that is more my style. I did enjoy swing and salsa !
Dancing with the instructor was always the best (they know how not to be noodles ).

@much2say Yes, dancing with the instructor is the best. They can lead you to dance so nicely too and with beautiful moves too.
I also enjoy free dancing and that could be even without a male partner.Swing, I know how to dance that but not the intricate one. Salsa, I think I still know how to do that with both our hands upon the hands too of the partner and circling them together.

It would be futile if the males are like that indeed.
Oh, so you know how to ballroom dance. Indeed, our partners should really know how to dance too. But not my husband though. He only knows how to dance in discos as we do it before when we were younger.
So here, you can hire a dance instructor if you would like to go to a ballroom dance. They can lead you in the dance floor and if you also know how to do it, you will surely enjoy dancing.

@allen0187 I feel the same way, but not when I learned how to dance the reggae that night. Whenever i hear Dahil Sa Yo by Inigo Pascual, i feel like dancing the reggae. I also think, tanto would be nice to learn too.

@yugocean No, you won't if your partner is a good dancer. Here, the seniors hire a dance instructor. 2 for one dance instructor. When the other senior gets tired already it's the turn of the other one. The dance instructor is energetic enough to dance with them alternately.

I haven't tried it; but I enjoyed watching people, usually elder women doing it; as form of relaxation and exercise.

Don't you get jealous that they can dance so well? I did.
I will try to learn the steps of the dances. First, I will watch on YouTube, when I have the time. Then, ask the instructor to lead, whenever there's a chance to ballroom dance again, which is sure because hubby's aunt let me get the telephone number of the dance instructor.

Wow, so you know how to ballroom dance. Maybe when you come back to the Philippines you can find a place where they have ballroom dancing. But, hire a dance instructor for the other dances and your husband can dance with you when it's waltz.

Actually, in my younger days, I am good at dancing. But those are the modern dance at that time, and we always go to discos.
Hubby and I when we were still sweethearts and younger, always go discoing. Unfortunately, they are the modern dances during those times.
But as to ballroom dancing, hubby doesn't know too, like you.
I think most men aren't into ballroom dancing because they are of complex steps.

@changjiangzhibin89 Here too, old people have organized dance exercise in their communities, aside from ballroom dancing. They know that they will reap healthy benefits from dancing.

So, why aren't into ballroom dancing anymore? I have read that ballroom dancing prevents Alzheimer's and makes one feel and look younger than their real age.
That is why, I am thinking of trying to learn how to dance them also so that when I am retired, I can also go ballroom dancing.

@SIMPLYD I guess life got in the way for a while and now my legs start to ache if I dance for too long. I think it is a good idea to learn to dance - and to try to keep it up. I feel that if I hadn't stopped dancing, my legs would cope better with it now.

Don't you have a dancing event there initiated by hotels like this? It's a waste that your knowledge in ballroom dancing wasn't practiced.
With this, there are many patrons of their restaurant, since it's a posh restaurant, with a lot of tables put on the sides to give way to a dance floor, as you can see.
Yes, I love that night of ballroom dancing.
