The Deep Blue Sea

Not for you or me. The critters there are in for a scare. Poisons galore from our own shores, break down to kill those on the oceans floor. That plastic bottle that you drink water from, corrodes chemically as it floats down. Eaten by plankton and then larger fish, choking those just looking for a dish. Less than 1% of our oceans are protected, governments don't care and laws are rejected. So remember that next bottle of water you drink, will slowly kill as it floats and sinks.

@MALUSE Not everybody is turning a deaf ear. Some are listening. Unfortunately it's not those that have the power and the masses can be easily influenced in the wrong direction.

Great poem. Your poetic words sure speak the truth. Hope this sad situation can be corrected.

I live only four miles from the Pacific Ocean and spend a lot of time at the beach. It is horrible what is happening with all the plastic. Thank you for your poem.

You are welcome @DeborahDiane . Due to some of the flooding here in Texas, after the water receded, you should have seen all the filthy garbage that wound up on the banks. Absolutely no excuse for any of it.

@DeborahDiane And talk about timing. Last night on the news there was a video talking about exactly what my poem was about. Whatever you do don't go to Bali for a vacation. I did a new post on that today.

@nanette64 - I'm so sorry to hear that. At one time, before we moved to California, my husband and I owned a lot in the West End of Galveston and planned to move there from Dallas. However, since there they have had hurricanes and lots of damage, so we are relieved we didn't make the move. We still have a soft spot in our hearts for Galveston, though.

Wet wipes are another big no-no too as they don't break down.

So sad when you really think about what our laziness and carelessness does to innocent victims.

I know that governments do not care. We should stop producing plastic and go back to the more clean and safe glass. Glass in 100% recyclable, but we prefer to kill our planet.

Thank you @hostessman . I've even written Letters to the Editor here in my town calling the residents "Pigs" because of the garbage on the roads.

That is the reason Pretty and I recycle everything we can, Nanette! I suggested to vanny that we could visit the seashore when we go to India to meet her but she said there is nothing living around India in the oceans. I looked that up and she is right. Indians pollute so much that NOTHING lives close to the land in India! This is not quite in the same vein as your poem, but I was just watching this and thought of you, Nanette.

I'm a recycler too and always have been @DaddyEvil . And with India having one of the largest populations on the planet; this doesn't look good for just 20 years from now.

@nanette64 You're right, it doesn't look good at all. But we are already doing everything we can do, so someone else will just have to step up and help us.

It is disgusting what washes up onto beaches from dumping and littering. I can just imagine how toxic it is to our beautiful sea life.
