Day One: Our Cruise

Our cruise began on Sunday, Feb 25. We left the dock at Tampa at 4 p.m. We have an inside cabin with a nice large bed, desk love seat and plenty of storage. We were in the center of the ship on deck 1, Dolphin Deck. We had early dining at 5:30 p.m. We ended up with a great table, #59 and it was a window seat. We shared a table with a very nice couple Mary and Dave. Mylot member @jeffmoffit told me that going under the SunshineSkyway Bridge was worth taking note of. We passed under while we were dining. I am including a photo of the bridge.

That is a beautiful bridge. I've never cruised out of Tampa. My husband is claustrophobic, so we always need a room with a balcony.

Yes some of my friends like the balcony or at least the window. We just sleep in our room so I am fine with interior rooms.

@BelleStarr No can do. My husband would wake the ship screaming.. I need the view to prevent sea sicknesses.

We had to wait for our kids to grow up before we started to enjoy traveling, Being retired allows us a lot of freedom.

That is an awesome bridge. I hope you are having a blast, John and I have gone on one cruise from Miami through the Caribbean and he (the mister) hated the whole trip. He wasn't brooding but when it was over he said never again. I loved every trip I've taken on a cruise... and will continue to do so without the Mr.

I never can understand why people don't like cruising, especially to places like Bermuda, it is delightful. I am not a big fan of the Caribbean, but San Juan was very historic and I loved Key West. I saw those two on previous cruises, I chose this one since it went to Roatan which was new for me.

Enjoy your cruise! I cruised on down to the local Stop & Shop this am, getting ready to ride out the Nor'easter we're expecting tomorrow. Lucky you not in CT right now!

@BelleStarr Belle, we have a string bridge not far from where I live and at first did not like it but now I do. Yes, I like your bridge in the picture too.

Lovely photo Isabelle. We always go for an inside cabin too - the money saved is our spending money. I wouldn't like dining that early though - we usually go for second sitting.

lol I know it is a constant battle when we are in England or Europe, we want to eat before most restaurants are even open for dinner, its an American thing.

That is one option but they have a sitdown downing room with two sittings one at 5:30 and one at *. There are also two restaurants you can book for an additional fee and then there is the buffet. You can also get room service 24/7.

That is a gorgeous photo, but it doesn't do justice to the actual size of that bridge! I'm glad you got to see it as the ship went underneath!
