Pick a Door

I got notice this afternoon, just like everyone in my apartment building, that the apartment complex would be having some concrete work done this Friday. It starts at 8am, and they won't be finished until 8pm. So they told us we could either leave before eight and stay gone all day, or stay in our apartment and not leave until after 8pm. I thought they meant not leaving with our cars, but they were talking about the breeze ways, and sidewalks, so we literally can't leave the building, or are apartments. I'm leaning towards staying in my apartment. I don't want to leave my dog alone all that time. Plus, I can't think of how I could stay occupied that long without my back hurting, and no place to really lay down and relax. Maybe I'll get me the fruit tartelette you see in this picture. It's a pastry shell with a hardened chocolate encrusted bottom, filled with custard, topped by strawberries, kiwi, and mango. It's edges are almond rimmed. Years and years ago my parents bought me a big one in lieu of a birthday cake (had to be my early twenties). It was so huge! It certainly was good though. Should I stay in Friday, or venture out all day?

I think I would just stay in, watch a movie or two and just relax.

You know I was going to, but it stupidly just occurred to me how loud it will be, and I get migraines. Maybe I can find heavy duty earplugs.

I hope you got your tartlet to console you. I am one that would have stayed home.

That's a really horrible decision to have to make. What if you work 2nd shift, 2pm-11pm. You're not going to be awake before 8am, but you'll have to leave at some point. But I guess the work has to be done.. Well, I hope they aren't really loud causing you to not be able to relax!

Yes, the more I think about it the more I realize I better buy earplugs since I get migraines. Darn. They are right about the foundation sinking though. There is a huge gap in the stairs on the middle floor. I just didn't think they'd do anything about it.

@AmbiePam Well how did it go? Were you able to relax?

@katsmeow1213 The ear plugs I bought weren't worth a darn, but it turns out they came the day before it was all planned and did the loudest work then. So that Friday the noise was negligible. The actual noisy day gave me a very small headache. So, not bad.

Since you have a bad back and you have your dog you should stay home. The food in your picture looks really good.

I probably would stay home and relax rather than trying to find something to do for that amount of time

I hope it doesn't get too loud. I asked for more details this morning, and they are hammering all of the old concrete out and pouring a new foundation for the floor under me.

With that kind of choice, I would stay home. That looks really good.

@AmbiePam A few times when similar things have happened in my building, I got out of there and only came back at the end of the day. I found interesting to do. A couple of times they have closed the water for the whole day. No way am I going to hang around here when there is a whole exciting world out there.

I think you should venture out. Go to see a friend and take the dog with you.

That's a good suggestion, but not everyone I know will let a dog in their home.

I'd stock on a few great tartlets and have a day long part, just you and your dog. A fruit tartlet like this is Vince's first choice whenever we go into a bakery for something sweet.

I would also decide to stay inside. Twelve hour outside waiting to go back home are too long.

Well considering your back, dog and being comfortable home is best. Your dog must need to go out for their regular business...so you got to be sure your dog can do his or her business too. If you can stay home and let your dog do their business it's great and more comfortable, if not, you got to find a place you can be comfortable and your dog can do their business too. Good luck!

As you have backache, I think you should stay at home. I think a day out could be bad for your back.
